Good Natured Newly Claimed Lioness

Ashkarn scowled at his grandchild in pure disgust, to him they were not worthy of being a leader. He was furious when his own daughter decided to mate with a lion rather than the young tigers he had suggested, or even a hybrid like herself. But alas she could not stand all of his suggestions, she wanted to explore and lead her own life, choose her own love despite her father’s disapproval.

Ashkarn was furious when his daughter gave birth to this weak runt, no matter how pretty their pelt was he would forever see them as nothing but a disappointment.

No matter how hard they tried to gain his approval, no matter how hard they fought and won every battle, they never got anything more than scars and looks of pure hatred from him, which hurt more than any of the many marks on their body. It only made them strive to do better. One day they were appointed as the leader of the pride they resided in. A great achievement. But still it was not enough.

At that moment they understood the decision their mother made, that his approval is not everything. They had worked so hard to try impress him that they didn’t even realise it was for all the wrong reasons, throughout their entire life they had made her loving mother and father so proud every step of the way.

However, this made them sad, it dawned on them that they hadn’t appreciated the ones who actually cared growing up, that all of their attention was going towards Ashkarn and striving for his love when he did not like them even a little bit.

From that day forward they held their head high and never let him affect them again, they’re leading their own pride just like he was, if he couldn’t appreciate their strength and courage he was not worth it.
