Queen Garnet's Den

You wander down the canyon, looking for any signs of life. You've gone almost to the end without seeing anything, and you're considering roaring when a voice interrupts your meditations. A lion calls "State your name and business here." You look around, but don't see anyone. The hidden lion seems amused by your antics.
You call back your name and that you're here to visit the pride.
They say "Wait here." There are a few noises like pebbles falling - coming from above you. The hidden lion must be on a ledge high on the canyon wall.
You wait for a few minutes. The lion does not come down. Eventually, a yellow lioness comes out of the shadows near the walls. She greets you with a chipper "Hello!"
You return the greeting.
"I'm Mango," she tells you. "You're just visiting? I'll show you around." She leads you over to the shadows near the wall - now that you're close, you can see the mouth of a cave hidden in the darkness. As she precedes you inside, you can see six caves leading off of the main one - three on each side - and flowing water rushing by at the end, going from right to left.

Rules For Visitors:
1: Don't pay attention to the lion footnotes. They're not for you, they're for me.
2: PLEASE pm me if you find a typo anywhere.
3: If you object to the second-person style, don't tell me. There's no better option.
4: Any cub with a footnote that's just one red X will be abandoned when they reach 5 months. If you want to adopt any X cub, just pm me and I'll send them to you at 5mo instead.

After talking with lots of the lions here, you can piece together the story of this pride. The first leader, 501, was an ordinary lion - plain, easygoing, and not very skilled. The first lioness to join him was Diamond. Of her cubs, only Sunrise survived. Once 501 created an orphanage, but this didn't last for long as he lacked the resources to support the cubs.
Eventually, 501 grew old. He nominated an heir (no one can remember his name), but the heir was useless, swanning about with ladies and forgetting to train. The lionesses Ruby, Snow, and Raven decided something had to be done. They arranged things so that at least one of them could be near 501 at every moment. When he died in the middle of the night, Raven and Snow were there. As Snow raced to inform Ruby, Raven stood guard. By the time the rest of the lions arose in the morning, Ruby had taken control of the pride.
She made Raven the herbalist and Snow the chief hunter, and chased off over half of the pride. She began ruling with an iron fist (or paw?) and banished those who opposed her. And when the cubs named Silver and Tamarin were cornered by a boar, Ruby rescued them - though Silver was heavily scarred and Tamarin was blinded. Silver became Ruby's personal guard, wanting to repay Ruby for saving her life.
When Snow died from old age, Ruby was heartbroken. She spent days mourning. Snow's protégé, Nebula, took over the hunting party and worked to revolutionize the pride's interactions with outsiders. She wanted to make everyone feel welcome. Ruby didn't quite approve of this approach, but kept quiet because she knew that Snow had loved Nebula.
Ruby grew increasingly erratic after Snow's death. With both Raven and Snow dead, she felt that both the people who had supported her were gone. Nebula, worried for the pride, made every effort to show her loyalty to Ruby and become trusted. She had a plan for the pride...
Nebula had been trying to convince Ruby to retire and get an heir. Her death of old age made Ruby finally realize that it would be a good idea. She continued Nebula's plans to find the perfect heir, finding the young cub Garnet to be worthy.
Ruby spent time training Garnet and the two became close. One day, Garnet noticed that Ruby spent a lot of time away and wondered where she was going. She snuck out and followed her - and watched her talking to a strange lion about star residue and rats. Confused as to why she hadn't told anyone about this, she resolved to confront her about it once she returned.
The story Ruby told seemed strange to Garnet, but Ruby made her promise to do what the Demiurge asked once she became queen. And before too long, Ruby came of age and retired. Garnet reorganized the pride and started making a name for herself.
That's all the history for now, but you suspect that'll change eventually.
A side note: The lions in this pride consider it very important that a lion descended from the pride's first lioness - named Diamond - is present in the pride. Currently, the Descendant is Topi, daughter of Garnet and Holly, daughter of Ruby and Sunrise, daughter of 501 and Diamond. Topi has no daughters at the moment.

Your True Sign is Virrius.

Sign Class: Jade

Jade Signs are the zodiac's caretakers. Intelligent and steady, they are excellent organizers and planners. They are detail-oriented, and can tend toward perfectionism, never satisfied with their endeavors. If you hire on a Jade Sign, be prepared for an excellent product, but also no peace until that project is flawless. They are fussy and particular, which can cause friction with those around them, although a Jade Sign holds no one to as high a standard as they hold themselves. Since they are shy with strangers and slow to open up, Jade Signs can often come off as timid or doormats, when really they just prefer to come at conflicts in a less combative way. Naturally loyal and loving, they make wonderful doctors, parents, and caretakers, whether they are taking care of people, pets, or plants. In relationships, they can be slow to open up, and need someone willing to be patient enough to go at their pace. If all of this makes Jade Signs sound soft and nurturing, they are, but keep in mind that they can also be fiercely destructive if those they care about are threatened. It takes a lot to make a Jade Sign snap, but if they do, take cover.

Lunar Sway: Derse

Derse Dreamers have personalities marked by a distinct and restless skepticism. Whatever their waking circumstances, chances are they will live in a state of dissatisfaction. Rebellion is in their blood, manifesting whether they are fighting back against a fascist dictatorship, or the most recent trend in casual footwear. Derse Dreamers are cerebral and self-aware; they have a far better grasp on the landscape of their own minds than on the world around them, which they can find alienating and confusing. But as so much of their identity is built on control, they will do their utmost to hide any insecurities, often with false humility or self-deprecating humor. They may be inflexible and pessimistic, but they are also great problem solvers, facing conflicts head-on with shrewd, calculating minds. They see one true path among an infinite snarl of wrong ones. They tend to be introverted, but if you win their trust Derse Dreamers are extremely powerful allies. However, they find sincere vulnerability difficult and will often keep people at arm's length. Letting go and living in the moment is hard for a Derse Dreamer; they constantly look toward the future and analyze the past.

Aspect: Hope

Those bound to the aspect of Hope are driven first and foremost by their convictions. They do right for right's sake, and are quick to come to the aid of anyone they deem to be experiencing injustice. That said, their views of the world can be quite black and white, so what they see as the "right" thing may not always be the universally accepted view. They put great value in the power of the imagination, the ability to dream up a better and more beautiful future. If anyone could dream a better world into existence, it would be one of the Hope-bound. They may sound like all sunshine and rainbows, but they aren't adverse to a little destruction, especially if they think they can replace it with something better and more just. At their best, Hope-bound are positive, caring, and warm. At their worst they can be narrow-minded and selfish.
