Bloodreina's Den

As you travel the rocky terrain, the metallic smell of blood overwhelms your sense of smell and taste; your curiosity gets the best of you so you track it east. As you near a large cave mouth, the scent and taste of blood is now much stronger than before but not quite the source, yelps and vicious snarls can be heard, intrigued you venture further, revealing not just one cave, but a system of caves.

As you venture further you notice to the left of the entrance is one cave full of nesting mothers and mothers with nursing cubs. The floor is covered in white lion pelts and then lined with the softest of feathers, in the middle is a freshly killed wildebeest that several mothers are feeding from, but this cave is not the source of the blood and cries that drew you in in the first place, so you continue, noting three other caves, one filled with weaned cubs, another filled with what is very clearly the hunters of the pride and finally one that is filled with the elders.

You reach the biggest cave and that's when the cries and yelps stop, you've discovered the source of that smell of blood. It's dark but a hole in the roof of the cave allows moonlight to trickle through and you realize this cave is littered with skeletons, both human and animal skeletons and for but a brief moment you have the fleeting thought you should turn back...a drop of blood onto your muzzle pulls you from that thought. You look up and piercing blue eyes meet yours in the pale moonlight, a growl that would worry even the bravest of lions being heard once you lock eyes with each other...you've met the pride leader and he doesn't seem happy that you've trespassed...

In one swift movement the blue eyes are now at eye level with you, the pale moonlight illuminating the lion and you discover it's a muscular maned female, her fur as dark as the night mixed with pinks, blues, and golds. A chain adorns her body but the most shocking thing you see is the bloody stripes that stain her fur. Clutched in her jaws is a dog, a dog that clearly strayed too far from its humans, a dog that was the source of those pain filled yelps you heard. With a simple toss of her head, she flung the limp body across her cave into the pile of bones you spotted when you first entered. Finally, this lioness begins to speak. "Not often do I have strangers enter my domain, the smell of death normally wards visitors away." Her voice was powerful and her words were concise and it was clear she was not afraid. She started to circle you, muscles rippling in the pale moonlight beneath her coat. "My name is Bloodreina, the bloody queen. Tell me lion, what brings you to my home?"
