It seems like questions get drowned out sometimes in the main channel of the chat box. What if there was a channel set up for help?

That way new players, and people trying to find out an answer, might have an easier time.

I know the mod box is an option, for questions but for some reason it seems people prefer the chat format.

I really like this idea, personally. I know there's the questions board and helper ticket thing, but the first one is a weak reason to not have a helper chatbox (we have a sales channel for chatbox AND a sales board, for instance) and the second... I'm sure I, as well as many other people, don't want to have to open a ticket and feel like we're wasting a mod's/helper's time with a really, really simple question.

I agree. I just don't think that some people realize the mod box is a place to ask general questions. Or they feel like a bother or maybe embarrassed, I don't know to ask a helper something. Chat is a much less formal and non-imposing option.

"grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?" - Shaun Of The Dead

xD maybe it's what we should do.

I don't know what you are talking about Paige.

My concern is that people asking questions in the main chat can get skipped. I've seen it happen a good number of times. It seems like newer players don't realize what the mod box is for, or they don't think their question is worth a ticket.

Chat is a less formal option and people are more inclined to ask there. Why not make it a little easier for that question to be seen?

No one in chat is obligated to answer questions - that's what the helper hub is for. I highly doubt any significant number of people would willingly sit in there for any period of time if they're not a helper, regardless, and there are more effective ways of getting in touch with the latter. There are also the 'I'm Lost' forums, which have the added boon of not having a character limit.

This has been suggested in the past and shot down, so no support from me. Alternate chatbox channels are generally shot down as an idea, in my experience, with the reasoning of lack of mods to keep track of the contents - same reason we don't have 18+ chatbox and the like.

I support, because not only is it skipped but some people are needlessly rude, which triggers the asking person to go into the defensive and main chat suddenly becomes a flood of ranting and defending one's agenda when nobody cares in the first place. While I understand it is annoying, and some people -could- find answers by trying to navigate ....it's still not necessary to cause unrest.

A lot of it could be ruled out it if was consolidated to the help section. Hopefully, it's utilized and it's effective but it's worth a shot and I support.

LOL maybe one day we can have those little 'Help Windows' like at an online banking website.
'Click "Ask Tammy" for assistance?' and a bot automatically answers questions in a tab.

This is a brilliant idea!

And the mod box isn't too ask general questions... Right? It sound as if it is for problems and that kind of stuff too me, to be honest :P

This would be really helpful for small easy questions :)

You have my support

Support! I've been thinking of this idea as well. I would much rather have a help chat open than the main so I could help answer simple, easy questions or ask questions of my own.

Players in main chat tend to get really aggressive and rude to people asking newbie questions, and a lot of new players either don't know about the Helper's Hub or are too intimidated to ask. Helper's Hub also seems like a place to go to ask more profound questions about the game rather than "how do I get GB".

As Maulise said, this idea has been suggested and shot down before. The helper hub's there for a reason, and another chatbox would require more mods than are available to watch it. No support.

Also, the helper hub is there to help you with any gameplay features. They're not intimidating at all and are happy to help you out with even the easiest questions on gameplay. Anything more complicated goes to the modbox.

What about when people get so lost? I've heard and talked to people who go around the site looking for answers and they can't find it. So they're obligated to ask in the Chat Box. A lot of those answers aren't in the questions such as "I'm Lost, Game Guide and I Need Help!" sections. Just saying though.

But at this point, it's becoming more of a problem (I think) because a lot of people are getting frustrated. They are lost. People can't make sense all the time. People don't always want to help, then what? Will they leave Lioden because the game became too difficult and members aren't as friendly as they were told? *shrugs* No idea what could happen, but it's going to become a bigger issue if it has not already.

Paige: I really don't get your point, to be honest. The 'I'm lost' Boards are for asking questions, this is clear from the title, and questions get answered quickly and with much more accuracy and detail than in chat.

This seems like a somewhat useless addition, in my honest opinion.

I understand your point, I do. I'm just saying that I've seen a lot of questions being unanswered too. Maybe people don't want to answer it or don't know the answer to it. That's all I'm saying.

Mausile has stated my own points. No support.

We can't answer every single darn question, the playerbase is so big. There are many peeps like myself who try their hardest to answer, but no way would most of us spend all our time in a chat. That's not even covering the actual mods and helpers, who also are in short supply and also do things besides chat.
