Hi, there!

Edit: last Edited on 10/08/15 by Alex (#38774) LOL, so long ago. Changed my grammar a little and a few moves. Also, added a few new enemies!

I want to share a few battle tips which i think can help out a few newbies and even advanced lions!
Be aware that i am not a fighting pro and i have lost battles in the past so i'm not perfect! BUT i do know a few moves that help me out quite often and bring me victory every time!
I'm level 17 currently so if you are lower - don't hesitate to try this thing out! It is meant for every level lion thus it is universal!

I will make a list of the foes you come by when you explore from every explore zone randomly! If you want to add one - don't be shy to ask! I will give you a hint of how to deal with them.
And also have in mind that you have to notice if the strength, speed, smarts & etc. are on your side at least two times in battle! But even then you can lose. And sometimes it's the opposite. The odds are against you tho you still manage to win it! Thus it's a 50/50 chance!
I will also add a note of the animal so you can find out more about your enemy!
There is a saying that goes: Keep your friends close, and your enemies - closer!
If you have done your homework on your enemies - your chance of winning against them will increase since you know/or will find out it's blind spots and weaknesses. Open your ears and pay attention - you will need this in battle.

Let us begin, shall we?

Watch out!Enemy Striped Hyena!
Pounce>>>Grab>>>Claw>>>Pound
If it manages to hit you harder - try an other combination!
Claw>>>Pound>>>Kick>>>Claw>>>Claw
Note of the animal: Hyenas can be a tough challenge since they have bigger dog teeth than even your lion so the chance of losing might increase if you make even 1 bad move!

Note: Know that the flow of the battle can change at any time and it can be for good or bad. For instance you are fighting and almost winning - the next minute you get a big wave of attacks from the enemy and you end up losing. But don't worry! That could only happen if you are fighting a group (such as AWD pack) or an big animal like an Elephant, Hippo and etc.!

Watch out!Enemy Lion!
Pounce>>>Grab>>>Kick>>>Claw
If it manages to hit you harder - try an other combination!
Release>>>Swipe>>>Swipe>>>Bite
Note of the animal: Lion Vs. Lion is almost always an intence battle and since the anemy is your size and your kind - watch your odds!(strength, speed, smarts & etc.) If the odds are on your side - go for it! If not or a tie - you can still try. Don't chicken out of the fight so soon. You can take that guy. It's all in the right combination. If you still lose - keep trying! That guy won't manage to beat you every time.

Note 2: I suggest that if you are fighting a Lion for example (or any other of the feline kind foe) go with Swipe. Don't go grabbing them because if the grabbing options (Claw, Pound, Kick and Stangle) don't help you - by the time you find out that it doesn't help you and release them - it might be too late. Thus go for Swipe and Bite so you can use the "Rest" option which can be of a big advantage!

Watch out!Enemy AWD!
Pounce>>>Grab>>>Claw>>>Claw
If it manages to hit you harder - try an other combination!
Grab>>>Claw>>>Pound>>>Strangle
Note of the animal: The Wild Dog's neck is an open space for you to bring it down. And you can go with Claw as well since it's smaller than you and has thin skin.

Watch out!Enemy Boerboel Pack!
Pounce>>>Grab>>>Claw>>>Claw
If it manages to hit you harder - try an other combination!
Release>>>Bite>>>Swipe>>>Bite
Note of the animal: The Boerboel dog breed is a very tough one indeed. That's what they are bred for - to guard and that's what they are going to do. They are large and big-boned dogs so you can't take them down so easy if you are 2-3 level. I suggest you keep the "Rest" button near you cause these dogs won't hesitate to bring down a lion. But be strong & patient. If you are a higher up tho go with Claw till' the end and you'll win. They also have thin skin despite the big muscles.

Note 3: If you can't grab your enemy right away - do not insist on it by clicking the button again and again because meanwhile it will continue to attack you and you will lose the fight. Go with Swipe for a while till' you manage to grab it.

Watch out!Enemy Rhino!
Pounce>>>Grab>>>Kick>>>Kick
If it manages to hit you harder - try an other combination!
Release>>>Rest>>>Grab>>>Kick
Note of the animal: Rhinos are a though opponent to handle so watch out. Always keep an eye on the foe's life bar and your own bar as well. If everything is going okay, keep the flow till' the end. Rhinos have thick skin so the Kick move works on them perfectly.

Watch out!Enemy Elephant!
Pounce>>>Grab>>>Kick>>>Kick
If it manages to hit you harder - try an other combination!
Release>>>Rest>>>Roar>>>Pound
Note of the animal: The same moves work on Elephants too. It is bigger but on the same base - thick skin and only Kick will bring them down. You can try scaring them with a roar and pounding if kicking it doesn't work.

Note 4: Enemies with thick skin such as rhinos, elephants, giraffes and hippos can be brought down only by pouncing for a start (because they are bigger than you) and kicking as much as you can. You can always roar to startle them and in the confuson - pounce again and kick as much as you can.

Note 5: Enemies with thin skin such as dogs, humans and birds can be brought down only by pouncing for a start (so you can catch them by surprise) and clawing as much as you can. You can always pound to stun them and in the confuson - grab and claw as much as you can.

For now i made these. However - i will continue the list. If this proves helpful to you - use it and ask for more enemies if you are having trouble with others who are not yet listed here. If it doesn't work for you the first time - don't give up and try other moves. "There is more than one way to skin a cat" as the saying goes and it means that there is more than one way of achieving an aim.

I find it easiest with packs of whatever to grab and claw them
Also: storch things are best to claw, as they have soft skin.

Basically I go like this in nps battles:
Lion/Lioness, but also other felines: grab and pound (kick/claw if pounding fails a few times in a row)
everything large like Hippo or Elefant with thick skin: grab and kick (claw doesn't work with thick skin)
Hyenas: grab and pound- kick - claw, it's different with different kinds of hyena
Everything with soft skin and/or is a pack (AWD, Boeroel, Ridgeback; Vultures, weird monkeys in rocky mountains): grab an claw
Kudu: roar, they flee - if they don't then swipe or whatever and roar again. If they are impressed by roaring but not fleeing, roar again

With elephants and rhinos I usually grab + pound because you can stun them sometimes, then kick while they're stunned.

I've noticed that for most animals in a group, grabbing them and clawing them into submission works pretty well. Try it out!

With hyenas or poachers I usually start by roaring since it proved to scare them a few times in the past.

I didn't know the different attacks actually had different effects.. o_o the release for example.. does nothing when I use it. Why would I use it then?

I mean once you grab the opponent, a different set of attack options come up, if you release them, the previous attack options will return

Oh, I see. Well, Grabbing doesn't really do anything for me most of the time either. xD So I don't do it.

Humans are very easy. Pounce or charge, grab and just spam claw. They have "soft flesh" and will die almost instantly.

hey, anyone got tips on leopards?

edit: for some reason i always do pound > strangle > pound > strangle because they always stun and it works 75% of the time
