I was trying to think of things that could be added to the game while waiting for my energy to refill, and came up with a few cool concepts!

So imagine this -- you're clicking around the site when a window pops up letting you know something has happened to your pride!

These random events would give you what would be known as 'buffs'. Buffs could be displayed (along with their time remaining) on the right hand side with your other gameplay stats. A 'Buff Bar' would show which buffs (if any) were currently active with a picture, and hovering over said picture would reveal how long they would continue to affect you. Buffs would have various effects on your lions and game while they were active.

Buff Ideas:

'Caffeinated'
-Has a chance to be triggered while munching on coffee beans (more on those further down)
-Lasts 1hr
-Lions will gain 15% energy every 15m instead of 10%.
-Buff Icon could be scattered coffee beans on the ground.

'Swift Paws'
-Random chance to be triggered while revealing what lionesses bring home from the hunt.
-Lasts 1hr
-Lionesses have an increased chance to gain stats when returning from the hunt
OR
-Hunts take less time to complete.
-Buff icon could be a small wing.

'Haggler'
-Random chance to be triggered while buying / selling to the Monkey.
-Lasts 1hr
-Chance to buy things for cheaper / sell things for more while active.
-price difference would be small (5-10 sb)
-buff icon could be a silver beetle

'Happy Family'
-Is triggered after three consecutive days of no lions wanting to leave your pride
-Lasts until lions want to leave
-Small chance of random events where pride members find items.
ex: "(lion name here) prances up to you happily with something between their jaws. They must've found it while playing! You receive one (item here)."
items included could be small feathers or carcasses.
-buff icon could be a smiling lion face (opposite of the one that shows up on unhappy lions)

'Victorious'
-randomly triggered after winning a fight in explore
-lasts 20m
-could have various effects such as increased finding items, more advantages during fights or NCL claiming, etc (or could have it's own set of explore abilities)

'Hunger Pains'
-triggered when your main male is too hungry
-lasts until he's fed
-better chances of finding small carcasses while exploring.

Coffee Beans
description: Looks like poop, smells like dirt, tastes like poop.
Use: Feed to [main male]
effects: has a chance to trigger 'Caffeinated' Buff
found in explore -- "You stumble across some weird looking beans. They kind of look like poop, but you scoop them up anyways."

Of course, these're all just suggested buffs. They could be added as they are or modified. and I'm always up for suggestions on more! Also, the lasting times are just place holders mostly.

I really dig these buff ideas o: they bounce off of in-game features that are already enabled which is great, and overall I can see more players wanting to be more active if these are introduced - it gives more incentive for day-by-day playing vs occasional logging-in for events.

I think these would be an awesome addition to the game! And maybe there could be an item that would increase the chance of buffs by maybe 50% but without it, they would be quite rare :p

Here are some ideas I think could be added to the "buff" list. I have no idea how long these could last, so I thinking since this is your original idea you could chose. No credit is needed for the ideas below.

Feeling Rich
   -   Random chance of triggering when you have 1000SB or more
   -   Higher chance of finding silver beetles in explore
   -   Icon could be a pile of SB

Love is in the Air
   -   Random chance of triggering when you breed with a lioness
   -   Lowered chance of failing when breeding your lionesses (best for low ferts)
   -   Icon could be a red heart

Broken Heart
   -   Random chance of triggering when you have a failed breeding attempt
   -   Higher chance of failing when breeding your lionesses
   -   Icon could be a broken and/or greyed out heart

Lover Hurts
   -   Random chance of triggering when you get slapped by a lioness in explore
   -   Higher chance of getting slapped when you are trying to claim a lionesses
   -   Icon could be a sore paw mark similar to the scar decor (can't remember name at this time)

I like this idea, but I find it a bit unfair that some things that should be... crypling? aren't. Take the hunger pains, for example: the lion would feel weak, even if instinc drives him forward and thus he can find food more easily, so it makes sense that, if he were to battle in such a state, he had less health, no? The same could be said for lionesses: if they come back without anything, they could be unhappy, or something that equals to what they gain if they're succesful. Coffee beans would mean that, after their effect passes, the lion could have a "cooldown effect", meaning less energy gained or that he can explore for a given period of time, even if the energy bar has points.

Please don't get me wrong, I like the ideas in this post, very much so, but I feel like they should be balanced somehow.

Was thinking about this and came up with maybe two more boosts?

True to nature -
Performs a number of karma-based actions that reflects your lion's personality (eg. 10 evil actions for an evil lion)
OR
Keeping your karma at a certain level for a few days (easier for evil and good lions so snarky, kind, and neutral would get an extra boost???)

Rise above it -
Reverse of above. Performs many karma actions against the lion's personality. (eg. 15 evil actions for a good lion)

maybe there'd be a negative for performing actions against your lion's personality until they hit a certain amount at which point it'd become a boost??
