marfan syndrome would be an interesting mutation to add but would require some new lineart and
decor redraws

appears: at birth
lethal: possibly, between 3-15 years
gameplay affect: low chance of catching prey

affects: the lion may have a lowered chance at catching prey on hunts due to blurry vision and fatigue. they can still be bred; the mutation has a 9% chance of being passed on to cubs. there'd be the possibility of the lion's lung collapsing, resulting in death between the ages of 3-15 years (player would get a notice when this happens).

month 0 notice
"your lioness notices something off about one of her cubs. its body is long and narrow, with long paws! she feels like something's up, but the cub just suckles milk like all the others."

month 1 notice
"looks like cub is playing like all the others... its mother doesn't let her guard down, but everything seems okay."

month 2 notice
"cub's mother can finally relax when it walks by. hopefully, cub's health will remain this good throughout its life."

death/collapsed lung notice
"the whole pride was woken up last night to find cub coughing and wheezing. it gasped for air and, despite your best attempts to help it breathe, cub passed away due to a collapsed lung."

Marfans is unique to humans, iirc, but something inspired by it would work. Maybe it could be called something to the effect of "stretched body"? I don't think it would get a stat penalty, but maybe a shorter lifespan - dying from 12-13 instead of 15-16. It probably wouldn't be different from other mutations in terms of pass rates, though. But I really like the idea of the mutation, and the unique death message.

I actually saw something like this in real life! Except in a leopard in stead of a lion. A shorter life span is very accurate. Even more accurate than lethal as a cub.
The leopard in question is Eerie , who was housed at CARE Rescue Texas a way back
http://carerescuetexas.com/in-memory/eerie/ ( Lack of tail is not because of the syndrome )
What he had is similar to Marfan Syndrome. Maybe you could call it Spinal Curvative?
I support this idea , but I do think the lion/lioness can't hunt or be kinged and should have a shorter life span.

Support!
I love that this isn't entirely lethal, because it is something that people can live with.
For those that don't know Marfan syndrome affects your bodies tissues, so not only the health problems listed above but also hypermobility, heart defects, dislocation, and tears of your ligaments can be more common. So that could also be added in-game.
Hypermobility can also cause arthritis, which would lead to mobility problems in older lions.
