Mutations are one of the most popular things on Lioden and makes it stand out from other sites like this, but I think disabilities would be something fun to add on some more challenge!

Warning, some images may be disturbing.

Physical disabilities such as the following;
"Broken" tail (half limp or kinked) : kinked

A broken spine and/or legs (lower) : spinal
(hind legs would be dragged if spinal)

A twisted hind leg / fore leg : leg

Missing / torn off ears : ears

I don't expect them to be added straight away if the ideas are liked, more of a slowly introduced thing?

How you'd get them :
rare random "encounters" as cubs will give your lion the disability.
For example, like the cub accident warning would have a very low chance of producing a disabled cub;

This is one of the current encounters,

In trying to investigate that dark, shadowy area, 105 Diabolical 6m accidentally ran into migrating buffalo! It was found by a lioness during a hunting run and brought back bruised, bloodied, but otherwise alive to your den.

But in a rare case, you'd be notified that your cub was either found or dragged itself back with said injuries but now with one of the listed disabilities; in this case probably a broken leg!

I don't think they should be as rare as mutations, but something that can be collected and sold like them! (Depending on the disability, the lioness/lion may not be able to patrol or hunt or be kinged) and they won't pass like mutations, so it'd be *pure* chance that you get them! No cotton root bark for breaking your sons legs!

If you don't support, explain why please! :)

EDIT: Due to me not considering the factor of expensive heirs, some good ideas to prevent / remove the disabilities would be;
1. A 1-2 GB item from oasis that removes the disability
2. When 100% protected or protected by a broodmother there is no chance of getting this disability, and when over 60% trained as an adolescent

EDIT2: Removed adolescents as it didn't make much sense

Really great idea! How about missing limbs, or no nose bridge or something? I think that would be really cool!

Support!

I generally support this, but I believe that there should be an item in the oasis (like the one that "cures" mutations) to remove the disability, in case someone spends generations over generations breeding for the perfect heir and then it goes and breaks smthn, making it unable to be kinged :') That'd be a crying shame

strong no support, sorry but if i was training my heir and his spine broke and i couldn't king him, i'd be really angry.
the new art would be a TON of work to make too, its really just not worth it overall and having no way to actually try to get them kind of defeats the purpose since this game is all about breeding

This is an interesting idea, but I just can't support it. Say, for example I'm out training my 10gb heir, and he gets some sort of serious injury and can no longer be my king, that would absolutely ruin everything
edit: seems I was beat to posting that ^_^ But as was mentioned, if there were an item that we could cure the lion with, I would be a little more okay with it

Yeah, that's true. Maybe make it so when you protect your cub, it can't get a disability - since the brood would be keeping it from harm.

Yeah using a broodmother or something from the oasis? I'll add that to the post

cubs without protection are usually the ones that I don't attempt to keep, so even if it got one of this injuries through random events and now count as a mutie, I'd rather not keep it as a collection and waste a slot. In addition, if I attempt to sell it with the chances of getting one higher than getting one now-existing mutation, it might not sell with high price, so it might end up being a gorilla cub even with the mutation, which make it indifference with other potato cubs. Sorry no support :)

No support. This game doesn't need more deformed lions.

Jenny, lions in the wild can be deformed, so why not add it here? The gamemakers want the game to be as wild as possible, so why not? I understand you have your own opinions though. <3

i support!! i understand how some people may not like it but then there might be a way to protect them ya know? i would love this idea as a way for more realistic variations in my pride!! and i think disabilities should only happen to the lion in cub stages so that like said above if you have a 10GB adol and he gets injured he cant be protected by a brood mother so... but if there is a way to remove it then its rude for people to disagree whenever others want them

Changed to support ^_^ And agree with Rosesocietey, would be really nice if only happened to cubs, but as long as we can remove the disabilities, I'm happy

My only question is, what about mutie cubs? Would they lose their mutation to become disabled? Or be unable to get disabled?

I like this idea, but i have a few questions about how it would work.
Will nursing cubs be able to get these injuries?
Can these injuries heal overtime?
Would a lion be able to breed with a disability?
Should there be a cheaper way to heal your lion, or an item that will make sure your lion doesn't ever get a disability?
How would a lion be affected by this disability, depending on the type?
Could a lion get a disability twice by some rare coincidence?

I think it'd be better if the disabilities were like the scars and would just be added decor, so that it could be added 'n removed as you wished, but on a cooldown period when your cub first gets hurt. Like for two rollovers or shorter. So that nobody's cubs lose their value and it could be more realistic.

I LOVE THIS as an idea for unprotected lions. Like...

Ok, I'm a serial forgetting-to-protect-cubs'er. I want the challenge that comes with this. If you want to intentionally have disabled lions, you'd need to run the risk of having them just run away. I love it.
