So it's occurred to me lately that it's kinda odd that prides of 200+ lions are supposedly able to live off the same amount of hunting patrols as prides of 40 lions. I mean, think about the real life application (not that the pride size is very realistic, but theoretically)— if a pride of lions had 100 lionesses to go hunting and enough land to do so, would they only send out the same 5 girls over and over again and leave everyone else sitting on their butts? Probably not haha!

Basically, I think the hunting patrol system should work similarly to the broodmother system, just at a slower pace. As a brief overview for those who might not know, for every 10 territory spots you add, you get one more broodmother, starting on the next "1" number (ex. a pride of 31-40 spaces has 3 broodmothers, but once you grow to 41 territory spaces, you get a 4th broodmother slot)

I think patrols should work something like this:
1-50 territory: 1 patrol slots
51-100 territory: 2 patrol slots
100-150 territory: 3 patrol slots
and so on— with each 50 slots, you get one more hunting patrol to send out

Benefits:
- larger prides will make better use of their lionesses and the hunting system will be more fair for them
- smaller prides don't really lose anything through this method
- it gives another reason for people to buy GB to increase their territory, which benefits the website as a whole
- it also makes the training system more fair to larger prides, as larger prides generally have more adols, so it will offer more opportunities to train adols

edit; added suggestion just for admins to consider: perhaps the option to buy the ability for the second/third/fourth patrol to gain stats? would need to be somewhat pricey so that not everyone does it, but it does also seem like,,, if you buy 100 territory and support 80 lionesses and are willing to pay for more of your lionesses to gain stats, i don't see why you shouldn't be able to? but im mostly in this for the food LOL

Suggestions:
Bezthiel (#81210): the lionesses in the extra hunts do not gain stats

Possible Concerns:

Bezthiel (#81210): Since lionesses only gain stats through hunts and the main way this is limited is by only being able to send out 5 at a time, I could only support this if the secondary parties don't gain stats. We're starting to see lionesses pass 10k stats so clearly hunting works fine for stat gains. And your main concern seems to be getting enough food for a larger pride.

if you don't support, please give constructive criticism as to why!

Maybe it can increase with every 20-30 territory slots you open up to avoid flooding hoards with unnecessary food items.
Support!

thanks for the support! i think maybe you misread though, or perhaps i misread your post xD— my original suggestion was that with each 50 territory, you get one more hunting patrol (as in, once you buy your 51st slot, you have 2 patrols until you buy your 101st slot, which will then give you three patrols) which would be a smaller amount of patrols than every 20-30 slots

sorry for any confusion!! if you have any suggestions on how to word that (i think i explained it pretty poorly xD) please do tell!!

Support. Honestly, this would probably cause me to spend the GB to bump both of my prides up to 51 slots, so I could build lioness stats more easily.

thanks so much for the support, and yes, precisely! i think it would just be one more thing to make the game a bit more fair to big prides (like the feed all/play all and the auto nesting) and it would bring in more revenue for the game!

Gonna give this a bump. And support. :)

Was searching for hunting party related suggestions before making a different one, but this is a good idea and would add a lot to the game.

I don't understand what your suggesting here. Ya can send up to of 5 lioness's out to hunt at a time, ya get 10 free hunts for every lioness and can buy more. So what are ya wanting to change exactly?

Yes, 5 lionesses can go out per patrol. What I'm suggesting is that after certain amounts of territory are bought, the amount of patrols at one time you can send increases. So, instead of 1 patrol of 5 lionesses, a pride of 54 lions has the option to send out another patrol, allowing them to bring back twice the amount of prey, which makes sense, considering their pride is twice the size of a 26-lion pride.

Thank you for asking, I'm guessing other people had the same confusion!

This would make so much sense, it often feels a bit like we are punished once we have large prides (not in most ways, but in procuring enough food for sure).

Ok. I can see how that would be very helpful for larger prides.

thank you guys so much for your support!!

and i completely agree @zimrah, i don't think they ever intended for it to be a challenge, but it certainly is one and i'm honestly surprised there isn't already a system like this in place

I have not noticed lionesses gaining stats the more i hunt them— that only works for adolescents and even then they only (from what i remember) get a max of maybe 15 stats added after training them 100%— regardless of whether they do or not, though, the reason we're seeing such high-stat lionesses is due to the high-stat kings, not the hunting

i think that it would be fair to allow a pride with 200 lions to train more than just 2 of its adolescents at a time, personally. It would be something i'd be willing to forgo, but I think overall the low numbers are unfair for people who have paid— in some cases— almost one hundred GB to increase their pride size that they still have to operate as though their pride is 30 lions.

Thank you for your input, though. I'll copy our exchange into the first post so people can see the two sides to this.

@Kami that's not how stats and hunting work - as Bez says hunting is the way lionesses gain stats, basically the equivalent of patrolling for submales. See the very bottom of the wiki page for screenshot including stat gains, and the text explanation below that. Though that 'chance to gain stats' phrasing isn't super clear - what it means is that every hunt you send out, every lioness on the hunt is guaranteed to gain either 1 or 2 stats (chosen at random). So always at least 1 stat per lioness per hunt. Which can be several thousand over a lifetime.

Even my lionesses gain well over 1000 stats from hunting over their lifetime, and I don't try very hard. Players really aiming hard for high stats gain at least several thousand per lioness, which is how they're getting from ~5k birth stats to ~10k stats in the end. So multiplying the amount of hunting teams you can send out also multiplies the amount of lionesses you can gain stats on, potentially having a major impact on stat breeding and values of high stats overall.

So unfortunately it's no support from me as the suggestion stands :( though I would probably support with some kind of tweak so that extra hunting parties could gain food but not stats, since I do agree that food can be an issue.
