Ferus Approaching!

Just as we mentioned in March's event news, we're posting a dedicated news post to explain how Primal (Ferus) works!
It is uniquely introduced by the Anti-Poaching event, and its lore is tied closely to March.

Once Tier 2 is unlocked, a rare encounter will appear in Explore. The encounter chance will be raised once Tier 3 is unlocked!

A shaman will approach you and, guided by the avenging ancient spirits, this shaman will offer you a special item that you can accept by clicking a button. The item is guaranteed to be granted upon clicking said button, and you will receive one Mukombero.

mukombero.png

This special breeding item can only be given to adult female lionesses that are not mutated and are of breeding age - this means she cannot be any younger than 2 years, cannot be any older than 14 years, and cannot already be mutated.
Once given to the female, she will refuse to breed during the day, as the ancient spirits must be present during the breeding. This can only happen at night! With this special circumstance in mind, once the lioness is bred, one Primal (Ferus) cub will be guaranteed in her next litter.
It does not matter if the stud has a mutation or not during a Mukombero breeding.

How It Works
This effect will come into play at the very end of a bred litter. Mukombero guarantees one Primal (Ferus) cub, no more and no less, so it will overwrite one of the lioness's cubs, no matter what other items are used. This includes GMO Cows and all other mutation items. For example, if the breeding results in more than one cub being born, and you use mutation items, it's possible that there will be another mutation born in the same litter; however, using Mukombero, you will never receive more than one Primal (Ferus).
This is a great opportunity for you to plan breedings and select your Ferus's parents with desired bases and markings!

The Ferus, if made king, has a battle boost against primates. This is tied into its lore, as it was spawned into this world to seek revenge against the poachers. We're very excited about this feature!

Natural Breeding Mechanics
* Both male and female Ferus lions have a chance to pass on Primal (Ferus) on their own, as well as any other primal variations. The chance for this is low.
* If a stud is given a Pennyroyal, and both parents are Ferus, the chance of Ferus passing is higher than usual. If only one parent is Ferus, this boost will not trigger.
* Other variations cannot spawn a Ferus via normal breeding. Ferus is only introduced into the population via Mukombero.

Ferus Lore Summary
The Primal (Ferus) is a new type of Primal variation. It is a very beastly and primeval creature restored into lion populations by the most ancient ancestors of big cats to avenge all animals killed by poachers. Their size is not that impressive, but their skills in defeating primates are exceptional. Both males and females are equally fierce and do not have anatomical differences aside from a scarce mane and cheek fluff visible on males.

We'd like to present you all with a more polished size chart of all Primal variants compared to normal lions and human size - it is clickable if you want a large size.

Ferus is a Latin word describing something untamed, fierce, and wild. We found it quite fitting to this Primal variation!

For Custom Decor artists, here's a .psd - also shared in Art Tutorial thread:
Ferus 3,6Mb

EDIT: Player questions we caught so far:
Q: Is Mukombero limited to 1 per account?
A: No! You can have as many as you want, and get multiple encounters if you're lucky.

Q: Is it usable outside of the event?
A: Yes! It's just obtainable during March.

Q: Is the Mukombero breeding done in real life night?
A: No no. Lioden seasonal night time, visible on the side menu! :D

Q: Is the encounter only available at night?
A: No, you can get it anytime, in any zone!

Katze, the thing is its not the natural energy we're talking about, it's hundreds of energy used with energy items. I personally used 2 full meat pies - 500 energy each - plus 7-10 energy boosts, PLUS two days of getting double energy with roasted lamb, Not a sniff of the encounter! It's more energy spent than what Id spend if I just hunted all 2 remaining weeks naturally - it sure doesnt feel the boost does... anything. I understand the encounter is supposed to be rare, but at this point, its on the brink of "nonexistant".

Admin Response:
We're sorry to hear that you haven't found the encounter after using up so many energy items. The encounter was never guaranteed to be found – it's entirely up to random chance. There's still more time to find it while exploring using natural energy regain.

I'm pretty sure I've also used about 100gb's worth of energy boosts so far, and to no avail. I haven't been counting them, but energy boosts have been most of my purchases since tier 2.

Would also still love an official response to my roll order question. Will it be safe for me to use ferus studs for my gon ladies tomorrow when they go into heat, or is there a risk of them rolling before my gons?

Admin Response:
Sorry about missing your question, Kich! Hybrids roll first when breeding, so it's safe to use Ferus studs. :) If you get any Ferus cubs, then that only means you wouldn't have gotten any Tigons from your girls.

Gotcha! Thank you for the answer. ^^ I'll be using a ferus stud on.. one gon lady at least.

..also another question because I love maths, odds and numbers. What's the chance to get the shaman encounter in tier 3, and what was it in tier 2? Back when we had the tigon hype going, I just loved doing all kinds of calculations with the odds of that.

Question does this herb work with a muted king like a smilus I understand that the female had to be unmuted but I just want to know

Admin Response:
When using Mukombero, the stud that you breed the lioness to does not matter. He can be mutated!

So... for those who claim thy wasted energy and didn't get the encounter... I have spent a butt-ton of energy in other events. And, like you, I felt that there was an unfair unknown advantage for those who were getting it, while I wasn't. I was frustrated. I was angry. I tried to point fingers at why "those people" got it, and I didn't.

I *never* got the Interstellar encounter (I bought my applicator by giving up my first purchased Pon with 1 heat left, which at that time would have been the first Pon and her first heat I had, EVER.)

I *never* got the Solaris encounter.

My main account *NEVER* got the Tigon boost encounter (though my side got the encounter twice, but both were fails.)

In fact, I have *never* bred a 1st gen rare mutie (no lethals, no hybrids, no first gen dwarfs).
I earn *most* of my GB from selling event items. The *only* time I bought GB with real money was Black Friday this past year, as I finally had money that I could freely spend without feeling guilty - so it isn't about who buys the most GB.

This time, I finally got one of the elusive Ferus encounters in Tier 2 on my main. I am thrilled, and planned the *best stats* I could for my Ferus cub. And, yet, I still feel the pain of everyone else who hasn't gotten it, and even those who are complaining about the Ferus stud fees. My secondary account is blowing just as much energy as my main, and I didn't get it there.

It is random luck. And it is rare. Just like the Admins say.
And think about this... if everyone got 1 Mukombero event, there would be 100000+ Ferus on the site, and they wouldn't be rare. So, there will be many, who blow days worth of energy, blow GB on energy boosts, throw giant torts at kings to level up for energy... and who will still not get the encounter.

I just still want to know if it's entirely random, or if it's affected by event participation. As in, attacking poachers and the like. I'm skipping anything that will cost me 5-10 energy for sure, and having spent so much gb on energy boosts.. I hope that's not ruining my chances, since I'd much rather spend all my energy and more on attempts on the shaman encounter.

Admin Response:
It is entirely random, and not influenced whatsoever by a player participating in the event.

Its not to do with event participation Kich. Ive explored a ton. Using nearly 3000 energy today alone on just my main and Ive done every poacher encounter but so far no shaman.

Thank you for the answer! It's good to know this for sure finally. ^^ Since the ferus is brought to this world to defend it from the poachers.. I just wondered if hammering poachers would have anything to do with it. You know, whack a poacher, then get visited by the friendly neighborhood shaman type of deal.
