1. go to your den and click "edit your details," there should be a dropdown of options.
2. to change your territory tile you can click and choose from the options presented in the list next to "territory tile" (grassy, plains, water hole, etc.)
3. to change your background you can click and choose from the options presented in the list next to "layout theme" (day, night, desert)
--> if you are talking about a background that is not day/night/desert that is custom html coding and is a much more complicated process than this, other help boards exist to guide you through that :)
4. be sure to hit save so it actually stays put!
