So it's no secret that many people are upset about how the current Tournament is running. Payout isn't great, stat tiers are massive leading to unfair match-ups, etc. While minimizing the stat tiers is a great idea, it doesn't seem to have been proposed in the recent poll. If you'd like to skip down to my proposal, look for it in bold. I'm open to any comments, so PLEASE LEAVE REASONS AS TO WHY YOU CHOSE TO SUPPORT/NOT SUPPORT!

The poll that was proposed only gave the option of a higher chance of win randomization in tournaments or to simply keep things as they are. While the first option has the highest vote, I believe they BOTH are not a viable choice.

With the first option, those that grind for stats and like the challenge of moving up the tiers are completely undermined. Stats are already a fading feature in Lioden. Removing their role in this once a year event will completely obliterate them. I understand fairness is in question, but this is a traditional tournament that rewards winners and not losers. Life does not give away consolation prizes and this grittiness is appreciated in May's event.

The second option is to leave things as they are, which is not plausible and not a good representation of what others who didn't like the first option are feeling. This leaves the pole lacking any real representation of what the Lioden community really wants out of this tournament.

I am proposing a change to the Tournament.
I believe that in order to satisfy those that feel May's event is unfair and those that like the challenge of stat grinding, a Dual Area Tournament should be created.

This Dual Area Tournament would be comprised of a Casual area (more randomized wins where stats aren't as important) and a Traditional area (where stats reign). This would allow both parties a satisfactory tournament experience without the expense of the others. Participation issues could be fixed by randomly generated NPCs or predetermined NPCs that can fill the gaps.

The stat requirements for tier levels can be minimized as others have mentioned and prizes will be awarded according to area; low prize payout for the Casual area due to a higher win chance and higher prize payout for the Traditional area due to a lower win chance.

I strongly believe that putting the extra effort into revamping May's event as such would make it much more rewarding to the community.

ok but if (and it’s a big if) both were chosen equally, wouldn’t tournaments take twice as long to fill up? that + nerfing one is like.. worse than making brackets smaller imo

That's why the use of NPCs would come in handy. As described it would allow for brackets to fill up at the regular pace for both Tournament areas. This would mean both areas would run smoothly and both parties are satisfied.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "nerfing" one so if you could elaborate a bit I'd be better able to talk.

Hi Golden Sun Pride! I worked really hard to level my king up twice this month for winning tournaments. I support! Maybe you could combine it with another suggestion that had an option to fight for trophies or an option to fight for beetles? So losers on the casual one only get trophies, but losers on the stats tournament get a manitcora beetle. The winners of casual could get 4 mb and stats winners could get 5, so that nobody loses out too much by accidentally levelling up into a new tier :)

Yes! I feel like some sort of discussion on exact prizes would also be necessary.

I have also thought about the possibility of users being allowed to bounce between each area, that way if they do stat up into the bottom of a new tier they can opt to join the Casual tournament. This will allow people to grind in the background and wait to compete when they have a better chance.

Switching would be cool! Maybe there would be 2 boxes on the arena page. One that says [join casual tournament] and has a small description of how it works and what the prizes are. The other one says [join standard tournament] and says it's based on stats and gets slightly better prizes. I really hope they put your suggestion in the game because it's not fair to get stuff for free when other people worked hard for it :(

Please remember to write a reply explaining your decision if you can! It'll help give everyone a good idea of what the community does/does not want. Even a negative view on my suggestion will help.

RNG is NOT a solution, this whole thing could have been fixed another way. I think the stats are important and should remain important, however, reducing tiers based on average population sizes of certain stat groups would be a better fix. The current system, which I am super mad about, after working really hard and spending gobs of GB/SB to get to the upper tier of my stat grouping, (I was finally winning matches) has thrown me right back down to the losing 8/10 fights because of RNG.

We all know participation numbers are a key issue for keeping the arena rolling each hour. A possible solution could be as follows:

1-500 Stats, 50 stat gap..............8 lions participate 1 hour CD
500-1000, 100 stat gap..............8 lions participate 1 hour CD
1001-2000 Stats, 200 stat gap..............8 lions participate 1 hour CD
3001-4000 Stats, 300 stat gap.............4 lions participate 45 minute CD
4001-5000 Stats, 350 stat gap..............4 lions participate 45 minute CD
5001-6000 Stats, 400 stat gap..............4 lions participate 45 minute CD
6001-7000 Stats, 450 stat gap..............4 lions participate 30 minute CD
7001-8000 Stats, 475 Stat gap..............2 lions participate 30 minute CD
8001-9000 Stats, 500 stat gap..............2 lions participate 15 minute CD
9001-10K Stats 500 stat gap..............2 lions participate 15 minute CD
10,001-11K Stats, 500 stat gap..............2 lions participate 15 minute CD

How would you reward a casual arena? The same as a traditional? Now you are running into the issue of fairness via rewards earned. Ive seen this in other games, Elite players get pretty cheesed off when they see casual players strutting around with the same rewards they fought so hard for.

I think the tiers system, running 4>2>1 tournament is a good idea. But stat gaps/participants/cooldowns REALLY need to be shortened so that people who are at the low end dont have to spend 15 hours a day grinding stats and spending huge amounts of money on one event a year.

In the proposal I mentioned that the Traditional arena WOULD have better prizes than Casual for this exact reason. I am very aware that the rewards need to be improved for those going in with more risk.

However, making some people wait hours and others only fifteen minutes will upset most of the community. The complaint about this month’s event was a lack of fairness and the system above heavily favors highly stated players. They would be able to join at an incredibly fast pace and against only one other person, giving them a fifty fifty chance. The lower stated players are up against multiple lions and therefore have less of a chance, as well as a much longer cool down.

Participation numbers have never been an issue on either of my accounts personally, but instead of skewed tiers like this maybe NPC’s could fill the gaps. This would be exactly the same as other players entering and wouldn’t present something that could potentially look biased towards senior players.

New stat tiers is something that everyone pretty much wants and I completely agree with you on that. I do have a good feeling that Lioden will be changing this event next year and suggestions like yours will help mold it to what the community wants.
