because there's no other way gameplay-wise I can think of to implement body types without way too much extra coding work, I think having fat lions would be a cute mutation to breed for. Perhaps a less-rare mutation, or still rare but passable, as obesity is a genetic predisposition.

chunky lions wouldn't feel like hunting, and, if it wouldn't be too much of a pain in the ass to implement, lose hunger double as fast as vanilla lions.

Perhaps in lionesses it looks a little bit like the pregnant pose, or just use the pregnant pose outright if Xylax doesn't feel like drawing a new one lmao. For males, it'd be neat to have an actual sitting pose. Adding some heft to the current models would be okay too, but not ideal as Xylax's new stuff is much, much better.

a little exaggerated cause my drawings bad atm, but you get the idea for males :)

let me know what you guys think or what you would do with a hefty lion! I would make a Danny DeLeo.

Another idea is if you overfeed your lion (like 100 percent, you should choose to overfeed your lion once or twice a day) you could have it have weight problems. The females cant hunt and the males cant patrol, it it'd be harder to breed because of the extra chonk on the females.

Very late reply, sorry...

Yes, there is cases of pride members taking care of their injured (I posted something about this a while ago but since deleted it).
Sadly, most of the time the lion they take care of has to be left behind or still dies anyways. One case was a cub that became paralyzed. It’s growth was heavily stunted (still looked like a cub when it was almost an adult). The mother had to leave it behind eventually because it was slowing down the pride. A lion like this could slow down the pride and be left behind.

Lions haven’t been known to become fat due to eating reasons. Lions over eat all the time because they know there might not be another chance to eat in a long while.
They can become fat when they’re in captivity because there’s a constant supply of food and no other predators, and it usually happens when they’re in a closed space with not much room to move.

So, a fat lion caused by over eating is still a no support from me. If it was caused by a mutation and was accurate to how said mutation works, then I could support.

[EDIT]
Forgot to mention how overweight animals live shorter lives than healthy animals, which is even true in humans. Overweight animals are also suffering from it, gaining breathing issues, heat intolerance, organ disease, and much more.
So, it really isn’t all that cute for an animal to be suffering honestly. Sorry to sound like a huge dick and all but it just isn’t possible to have a fat lion and be done with it without huge complications that will kill it.

fat animals arent cute in the slightest. ive seen so many pet owners making their pets fat because its cUtE and they get likes for it. then their pets die because they're severely unhealthy. suffering unhealthy animals arent cute. plus wild lions dont get severely overweight- even if they could, theyd become a burden on their pride and just another mouth to feed because they're basically useless. overweight animals arent cute.

I have to agree with oldyeller. Fat animals aren't cute in the slightest, and I've seen many a fat cat get passed over for adoption at the animal shelter I work with. We had to put some on a special food with a certain amount per day to up their chances of getting adopted. Plus, overweight animals often have numerous joint issues, are more prone to arthritis and even heat intolerance. With lions being animals that live in the tropical savannah and places that often have quite a bit of heat much of the year, they wouldn't survive the heat. Not only is heat intolerance and arthritis an issue you have to take into effect, you also need to realize that overweight animals often have liver disease, hypertension and difficulty breathing. It would not be possible for lions to even be overweight, since they would not survive with the requirements of the life lions have to live, even with the care of their pridemates. As oldyeller said, they would be a burden on their pride and realistically wouldn't be kept around in the pride. The pride would realistically leave them behind. Yes I know we have all sorts of other weird mutations, but this is trying to turn fat animals into something they aren't, which is cute.

- shortened lifespan
- excessive burden on tendons, ligaments, and joints, sometimes causing arthritis
- high blood pressure, which is a huge burden on the heart
- diabetes
- fat in the chest in abdomen will restrict the ability of the lungs to expand, resulting in difficulty breathing
- fatty liver syndrome
- urinary tract disease
- decreased immune function
- strokes
- higher risk of cancers
- body pain and difficulty functioning physically

these are all risks an overweight lion would suffer through, with many being guarantees. some of these are even fatal. tell me whats cute about this?

the aesthetic of a fictional lion's weight is what's cute. theyre fake animals, theyre not going to be suffering through any of that... and even if they are, its going to be a part of the gameplay. cause its a game.
I'd still enjoy them as an option whether there are reprocussions or not, thats still not really a reason to not add them considering we have lethal muts

I think lethals are very cute but I would NEVER want a baby to have those conditions in real life. I see nothing wrong with this if the mutation is given penalties at birth like some other mutations.
