Barely, yeah. The *vast* majority of the stats are from the cub portion - before 1 year of age. The adol portion is just intended to raise the training % high enough to be over 75% to get the stat boost, with a very occasional stat added here or there. I've never got more than 10 stats from lions that haven't had any cub training, even if you get them to 100% during the adol phase. Usually it's more like 5 or less, so not worth it all imo if they haven't been trained between 5-11months

Do note however that Medlar Fruit does not give any stats; it only helps bringing the bar to 100% after the cub training. Only cub training % affects how much stats a lion gets, so if it wasnt trained as cub, it will 1-2 stats max, even with 100% training.

So even if the cub wasn't trained at all before it turned 1 year old, and I patrol him until 100% before he turns 2, he will receive the same amount of stats he would even if I cub-trained him?

Majority of stats are gained with cub training - specifically, each training activity stands for a stat it raises, like Chasing raising speed. So the amount of stats cub gets, depends on which activities it succeeded in during cub training.
Adol training is just for reaching the needed 75% bar, but does not affect the actual stats gained. So if your cub didnt have any cub training and only got adol training, he'll at best get 1-2 stats!

Cub training mixed with adol training gives the lion the stats. You need to get to 75%+ to get any stats from training so adol training is necessary.
