Welcome!First of all, hello!! Welcome to Lioden, I'm assuming you're pretty new if you're here. I'm Beth, I've been playing for about 5 years now, so I like to think I have most of this pretty figured out! If there is something in here that doesn't quite make sense to you then you can PM me; if I'm not online ask chat! Everybody here is super nice! And obviously we need another player guide. Most of my guide will be general information, where to find things, what to do to get started. This will not be in depth or very very detailed. My guide will be general information, I'm not going to explain every single detail of every single aspect of this game, I'm going to give you the information you need to get on your feet. $$Makin Money$$Game currency is silver beetles (SB ) and gold beetles (GB ). Monkey Teeth (MT) are used in the gorilla enclave, There are also event currencies for each different event. (Events will be talked about later.)
Obviously the first thing that needs to be talked about. There are a couple of ways to make money here. Monkey Business, Trades, Branches, Studs, Games, Art Sales!
Monkey Business
Accessed here
You can sell excess toys and food (and some other stuff) to the monkey in Monkey Business (MB). I personally recommend that you hunt, explore, and patrol as much as you can. Then use the toys and food that you need to so that none of your ladies run away, and then sell the excess to the monkey. It's not very much by itself but it adds up very quickly! It's not too hard to save this money to later convert into GB.
Trades
Accessed here
The Trade Center (TC) is used to sell items, lions, beetles, and money to other players. Items sold in the TC are often sold at an up-charge, if you are trying to buy an item that is expensive, check the branches as well. You can make offers on other people's trades for items, lions, beetles, and currency that you possess.
Branches
Accessed here
Branches work pretty similarly to the TC other than that only items are sold in branches. Prices for items in people's branches are set by them. You cannot make an offer on their items in the same way you can the TC. You can PM the other player to ask if they will be willing to trade you the item for other items or a different amount of currency.
Games
(I am skipping studs because it deserves its own section)
Accessed here
In the games section you can play games for prizes. Games that you play for a score, like Whack-A-Snake and Serengti Shuffle, can be played as many times as you want before you submit your score.
With cups you pay 5 to win different prizes, such as sb, backgrounds, some food. You have a 1/3 to win something from cups, so don't assume that you'll always win something.
Whack-A-Snake is a game like whack-a-mole but with a snake and a monkey instead. Play until you reach at least 100 points, that way you can at least win a prize. A list of prizes can be found here
Serengeti Shuffle is personally my favorite of the mini-games. I recommend playing until you hit at least 4000 before you submit your score so that you can get the best prize possible. A list of prizes can be found here
The Slot Machine is honestly a money pit. If you have plenty of money to spare then go ahead and play it, but honestly if you are pretty new then I would save that money for other stuff. The odds of winning small prizes are relatively decent, but the prizes that are worth it are hard to get to. You're better off saving your money until you truly have it to spare.
Reptile Roundup is pretty fun too! It's my second favorite. A list of prizes can be found here. I recommend playing until you hit at least 40 because imo the carcasses aren't worth it like the backgrounds and decors are.
Obviously there are other games too, but these games are the best for new players to get some items and currency.
Art Sales
Found here if you would like to find somebody to purchase from.
If you are any good at art then LD is quite the place for you to practice your skills! Plenty of people have sections on their den pages to hold other people's art. Art sales are very much protected in the same way other trades are.
I personally think CSS and HTML layouts also belong in the art section. You can find help with those on their forum (here). CSS is what makes people's dens look pretty.
Gorilla Enclave
In the gorilla enclave (found here) you give cubs for Monkey Teeth (MT).
You will ask the gorilla for a quest. Depending on the difficulty of the quest, you will receive between 1-3 requirements.
Easy quests get 1 requirement. Gets you 2 MT and your choice of EXP, IMP, or energy.
Medium quests get 2. Gets 5 MT and your choice of EXP, IMP, or energy.
Difficult gets 3. Gets 7 MT and your choice of EXP, IMP, or energy.
Difficult+ gets 1 (that the lion is mutated). Gets 10 MT and your choice of EXP, IMP, or energy.
After you gain so many MT you can use them to buy items exclusively from the gorillas.
More information can be found here.
Your Boy & StuddingFirst of all, don't be offended if you don't receive many, if any, stud requests when you first start. Most (ok all) rolled kings are potatoes. They just are. We all started with something similar. If you would like to see how potato like mine was, look here. So I mean it when I say that we all start at the bottom. You are likely not to get many stud requests until you've replaced your boy with a pretty heir.
I recommend trying to come up with a design for your heir that you would like to work towards. You can go to the wardrobe to come up with a design you like. All the bases, markings, mane types and colors, mutations, etc. are found in the wardrobe. You can visit the wiki to find out more about these. The following links will send you to different parts of the wiki: Bases, Eyes, Manes, Markings, Skins.
Stud Requests
You can make your boy available for stud requests by scrolling down his page. You will see a box that says studding services. There you can set your terms. If you do not want your boy to be available for studding, then you will put 0 in both currency boxes.
When somebody sends you a stud request you will get a notification sent to your inbox. From there you can accept or reject the request. Every failed attempt will cost you 5% energy, the successful attempt will cost you 10%. Any time you stud to your own lion, you lose 5% energy regardless of whether then attempt was successful or not.
When you have a lady that you would like to breed, but you don't want your boy to be the father, you will have to find a stud. You can find a stud by using search, once you find a boy you like, you will have to send them a request. In order to do that, you will have to click their lion's page, you will scroll down to the bottom of his page, read that lion's rules, choose which of your in heat lionesses that you would like to stud to him, hit the button to send the request. You will have the option (before you send the request) to send the other person a message. Every person has different rules and prices. If you don't read somebody's rules then they are bound to reject your request.
Pride UpkeepThese ladies are needy. Every day that you rollover your account, your ladies will lose 20% hunger and some mood. Under your lady's picture, she will have a box labeled "lion currents." The lion currents box tells you how hungry and moody your lady is. You want hunger to be as close to 0% as it can be, you want mood to be as close to 100% as possible. You will be told your ladies are looking to leave if their hunger is between 60% & 100%; you will also get this notification if their mood is between 40% & 0%. This is when you play and feed them using items in your hoard. (The excess of which you should sell so that you can get a little money).
Having Babies
I'm assuming you've had the talk with some adult figure at some point in your life. After you've chosen a stud (discussed earlier), sent your stud request, and the other player has accepted the stud request, your lady will be pregnant. If you don't nest your lady (you'll see if you still haven't) she can lose her pregnancy and you won't have those babies. You can use some herbs or feathers, and some other items, to use as nesting materials. After three days she will have her babies. Very exciting!! If you don't want to wait for three days then you can buy an Instant Cub Delivery from the Oasis. (Instant Cub Deliveries are often referred to as IBFs in chat)
Brood-mothers
When mommies and daddies love each other very much... you know the rest. So you have recently had a baby, whether yours or somebody else's doesn't;t really matter, let's not let nature take its course. We want these babies to stay alive so that you can get more babies. If you have a baby that isn't protected, it will have a ! under its "status." Every day that your baby remains unprotected by a brood-mother, there is a possibility of it dying from natural causes. To prevent this, we have brood-mothers! You can make a lioness a brood-mother by going to the same section where you change name, cave, and adding anything to her bio. Under her footnote you have the option to change her role, the default is no role, you will select brood-mother from those options and then update her information. She can now protect up to 5 cubs at a time (unless she is nurturing, in which case she can protect up to 6).
Appearances/Decor/General AttractivenessConsider this a continuation of the studding section.
Your main boy's appearance
If you want to get lots of stud requests then you should try to have a base that is well sought after. These bases include: new bases, rare/special/uncommon/etc. bases, breed only bases, generally speaking these bases should be pretty or new or hard to obtain.
His markings should be sought after too. The same general advice goes here too.
Decor
You can preview decors in the wardrobe! Decors can be found many different ways. Some can be bought from the Gorilla Enclave using MT, some can be won from games, some you just have to be in the right place at the right time. If you can't determine how to get a decor, go to the Item Catalogue in the Oasis. You can search there to see if it is found in an event shop or monkey business or somewhere else. Playing with decors can be quite fun and addicting.
You can see which decors you own by going to your hoard and sorting by decoration. You can preview how your own decors will look on your lions by going to the equipper.
EventsThe event wiki (here) has all the information on each individual event. Every month there are new events. Events end on the last day of each month at midnight LD time. For each event there is a different currency. Before the event ends, you should buy anything fro the event shop that you would like to have. Unless you can find it in branches or the TC after the event ends, you won't be able to get it for a whole year. The currency you have by the end of the event will rollover and be accessible for next year. You do not have to participate in the events if you don't want to. Go to the event page, above where your event currency is, there is a button that allows you to hide event activity, if you click it you will not be participating in the event. I personally recommend that you try to gain as much event currency as you can (even if you don't want to do all of the specific things that go into each event) and buy things from the event shops. Other players will want them and it is likely to make you a decent amount of money. F.A.QAsk your questions below and they'll end up here! I hope I've been some help! My messages are always open if you would like to message me for more information. If you can't seem to find your answer here then check out the wiki! The wiki is such a great help. I've been playing for about 5 years now and still use the wiki quite frequently.
Q: How do you sell event currency? Like once you sell it to another player, do they choose what they want from the shop and you buy it for them? How does it work ?
A:You can’t exactly sell event currency. There isn’t a system in place to do that. You can however advertise in the sales chat that you have x amount of currency and you’re willing to use it in exchange for real currency.

For example, let’s say I have 1800 dry bones (DB). Buffalo scrotums (buffy scrotes) are in the event shop for 600 DB each. Not during this event, buffy scrotes are worth about 20 GB. So let’s say we’re offering to sell them for 15 GB each. You can buy three so 3 x 15 = 45. That’s 45 GB. (This example is from the August event)

You can’t technically sell your event currency, like you can’t sell me currency and have it go to my account. You can sell items bought with event currency for GB/SB.

Hi, I have kinda silly question, but I can't find it anywhere, so:
How to link lion in chat so it does say [link]? Is there some kind of html stuff? Or can I just insert links and it works?

You just copy and paste your link and it’ll work! The other person will click the link and be taken directly to it. No extra fluff needed :)

Hi, I was wondering if you knew how to change the footnotes on the lionesses.
Like instead of just choosing from the ones that are available on the lion pages, can you put in different ones or can you only choose from the ones that are already there?
This might be a really easy thing to understand but I just get dumb and confused when it comes to these things.

Like the pictures with the heart and arrow? As far as I know the pictures they show are the only pictures that can be used there.

Dumb question. What time exactly is roll over? I’ve play nonstop through the night once and it didn’t give me rollover until I finally went to sleep around 8am in the morning and woke up some hours later. Does it wait until you go offline?

If a one is still replying to this I would like to know if there’s any way to change a lions skin. I can’t find anything and I really like a lion except for his skin

Not sure if you still need this but in the money business if you scroll all the way down to "others" just before the bit where you can combine nesting material, you can buy the skin changer for 400sb
