Stepping inside the shadows of the den, Prince Rowan sat down in front of one of the broodmothers. Dipping his head respectfully, he said “I have come to deliver these cubs. They are decent lions, but I cannot keep them in my pride. Can you find homes for them?”

Makaa nodded. “Yes, we have space for them. I’m sure they’ll be adopted quickly, they’re all so cute!” She turned and headed to the back of the den, followed by the new cubs.

Boulder walked in, looking sad but certain in his actions. The cubs he came with bounced around his paws as he bowed his head in respect to the broodmothers. "I come with some of my cubs. My territory isn't large enough to sustain them all. Will you please find homes for them? They'll make fine pride members I'm sure."

Jioni looked around at the nearly empty cave. So many cubs had been adopted or grown into adults recently, and there were very few left. “Sure,” she said. “We have plenty of space for them.”

Queen Sunglow came in, sad but certain. She carried a cub, and others trailed behind, some excited, others solemn. It was necessary, but still heartbreaking to see the cubs go, but she knew other lions could give them a better home than her king ever could with his meager amount of territory. She sat down, the cubs going to sit by her feet, and the queen called to one of the Broodmothers.
"These cubs need a new pride, may you and your gracious pridemates ensure these young ones find a forever home?"

Cula got to her feet, her bones creaking with age. She padded over to the visiting lioness and eyes the cubs by her side. “Yes, we have lots of space,” she said. “They’ll find homes quickly.”

Rowan once again made his way across the plains to visit the den full of cubs. He had six with him this time, all of whom needed homes. Several were his own children.

Entering the shadows of the cave, he stalked towards one of the broodmothers and sat, bowing his head. “I have brought more cubs,” he said. “Can you take them?”

JIoni nodded, recognizing the visiting prince immediately. While his pride had once been full of cruel and untrustworthy lions, with this new ruler in place they were becoming a valuable ally. “Of course we can take them,” she said. “Thank you, for trusting us with your cubs.”

Chaser padded towards the den, cubs sitting on his back and stumbling around his paws. Letting the ones on his back down, he bowed his head to the nearest broodmother and said," My pride is sadly too big for the territory we have. Would you please find these cubs a new home, one where they are safe and happy?"

Wasn't this a sight! King Valcor himself gracefully walked into the den with five overly excited cubs nipping and pouncing on him as he stood before the broodmothers. With a deep growl from the king that seemed to rattle the entire den the cubs finally came to a stop and sat in a seat in front of him. His glowing dawn eyes seemed to smile as he motioned to one of the broodmothers to step away from the children with him. "I was told that this is the place to bring the cubs that are...well...too much for me?" Upon closer inspection of this Frail Aufeis king, there were several freshly made bites and scars just beginning to heal. "They are strong cubs and will make excellent hunters, as you can see from my scars I am sure."

Machwa padded up to inspect the cubs. “Yes,” she said, “they certainly look tough.” She glanced towards tha back of the cave, counting the empty nests. “We have plenty of room,” she decided. “We’ll take them.”

After a lack of commotion in the cub drop-off den for awhile, a familiar lioness appeared. One who had once tried to adopt an adolescent, now had four cubs who all seem to have just weened from their mothers following behind her, their quick pawsteps pitter-pattering across the den floor. Many of them had the strangest of markings, and one in particular had eyes that seemingly glowed red and blue. She sat down infront of Machwa, sliding the first cub out infront of her. It seemed to be a grey one with the uniquely colored eyes. " This cub here requires a new home, as her vicious mother is unfit for raising cubs anymore." Sakorii cleared her throat, shaking her fur and picking up the second cub. This cub looked rather plain. " This cub does not seem to suit my... Tastes. Perhaps he will suit another king's tastes." She shamelessly admitted, bringing over the third cub." This gal here should be... Appealing enough for others, but broodmothers in our pride are not allowed to keep their cubs. We wouldn't want the other cubs feeling as if one was getting special attention, now would they?" Sakorii hummed in a snarky tone. Oop this queen didn't seem to be very kind-hearted. Finally, she set the fourth cub down. " This cub's mother was a lion afflicted with Dwarfism, and although she turned out perfectly healthy, the snake that slithers between the skulls tells me that she is infertile. She has no place in my pride. Please, take these cubs."

Machwa inspected each of the cubs. “Of course we can take them,” she said. “We have plenty of open nests in the back of the den.”

Prince Rowan padded into the cave. The shade was a welcome break from the midday heat, especially with his thick, dark pelt. The five cubs with him were all panting, and flopped down into the cool dirt to rest. Looking around, he noticed that the many cubs running around seemed well-fed, with shiny fur and plenty of energy. The broodmothers, however, were clearly feeling the effects of the great hunger that had swept the savannah, their ribs showing and their eyes a bit duller than usual.

“I have come to deliver these cubs,” he stated. Taking another glance at the lionesses in the cave, he continued. “I’m glad to see the cubs here aren’t suffering, although it’s clear your pride is having difficulties with the lack of food. I’d offer you some of ours, as we have plenty, but you know how it is. Survival of the fittest.” He ended with a slightly menacing grin, his long canines in clear view. He may be allied with this pride, but it was always good to remind others of the threat he could become.

Jioni narrowed her eyes, assessing the king’s expression. He had always been like this, a strange combination of ally and enemy. She wasn’t worried though. He posed no true threat, not when her pride had such strong warriors.

Switching her focus to the cubs he had brought, she saw that they were all exhausted. She called over another broodmother to help them find nests and food, if there was any extra. Turning back to Rowan, she said “Thank you, for bringing them. They will be well cared for.”
