tl;dr: stat-based game with tier reward system determined by amount of stats with different rewards based on which stat-path you choose (ex. strength, smart, stamina, speed, or agility)

Suggestion:
So i have no idea what this would be called, but i've always been confused by the breakup of stats for our lions. It's done similarly to a lot of other breeding games (horse sims come to mind) but doesn't follow through with what those stat distributions are usually intended for. In horse games, for example, there's a competition feature, where you send your horse to a competition based on his/her skills. A very fast horse would do racing, a very agile horse would do cross-country, a very smart horse would do dressage, etc.

I'm suggesting a similar thing for lioden. Perhaps add it as one of the mini games, or perhaps make it a destination on the crossroads, I'm happy to hear other people's opinions on that, as I don't really have a preference—if it would be a lesser used thing, I see why admins wouldn't want to add a whole new thing in crossroads, but if it's very popular, it might be nice to have a destination you click on.

Anyway, as for how it would be implemented, I think "competitions" may infringe too much on the May event, so I was thinking something exploratory? Sort of like how studs patrol, but (and there's a BIG difference here) instead of exploring to GAIN stats, you GAIN better items the better stats you have. I think this would give more meaning to the seemingly-meaningless numbers under our lions' names. I imagine the reward system would be similar to the gaming system in terms of tiers, but the prize tier you have access to is determined by your stats *in that category*. So for example, if you explore in the jungle terrain, your smart stats will determine your prize tier, while if you explore in the mountain terrain, your strength stats will be the determinant. I'm open to changing the whole "explore" thing entirely, too—open to just a competition as in you send your lion to battle with an NPC nearby king and an hour later you can check to see if you succeeded/what prize you got, or pretty much any suggestions that make sense.

(btw, i'd imagine it to be able to happen once per rollover, but with an hour to explore, aka you send your lion, an hour later you get the results, and the next day you can send your lion out again)

Bonus aspects:
-might boost the economy a bit—stat values have tanked so this could help ease that, and it could also open up a whole new demographic to sell to and for people to buy into—think about it, if the "smarts" exploration has different rewards than the "strength" exploration, people would actually care about what area a lion has stats in— there would be smart lions and fast lions and strong lions, etc— it would add way more dimension to playing and breeding

-fun, new exploratory thing with lots of potential for expansion if people like it once it's implemented

-doesn't radically change anything about the gameplay itself—even if there are "smart and strong and fast" lions individually, for people who don't play the mini game, it wouldn't really affect them, kind of like beetle battles or breeding for certain marking orders

-one of the few games available that wouldn't be solely based on chance

-would give more of a meaning to items that only boost stats in a certain category

I welcome constructive criticism and am always happy to hear what you like best, what you think could be changed! i hope to keep this thread a friendly space and encourage everyone to remember that sometimes the best thing to do is agree to disagree!
The only thing I ask is not to hear the argument of "it would be hard to code"—it's a pet peeve of mine. If the coders think it's too hard to code, that's one story, but they're the only ones who can say that. They make money from coding—if they think coding this will be beneficial to the game, it isn't too much work for them haha. If the admins reject due to complexity, they reject, but it's not a player's job to be the judge of that

things to consider;
possibly a skill-based one that you can only do once a month but has the chance for very valuable rewards regardless of skill level (or perhaps you can only access once you reach, say, 50 skill, but everyone who can access it has equal chance for every possible reward)? could work kind of like an RMA, too, so there would be a very small chance of actually getting a very good item?

thanks for reading all that, if you did! tl;dr (again, in case you missed it at the top): stat-based game with tier reward system determined by amount of stats with different rewards based on which stat-path you choose (ex. strength, smart, stamina, speed, or agility)

Additional Suggestions
Comet (#144858): "I think this would be something cool that could apply to sub-males as well as lionesses who aren't suitable for breeding. It's sad to me that males are virtually worthless aside from patrolling, and even then they can only patrol one at a time and has an hour cooldown. Similarly, infertile lionesses or lionesses born with a non-passing mutation aren't worth a lot due to the game being highly breeding-centric. Being able to use our lions to 'play' a separate stat-based mini-game or area similar to explore would help add purpose to having multiple sub-males, as well as purpose for lionesses with low breedability. This would boost the economy for lions overall and maybe help curb the overwhelming number of unwanted little guys at the tree.

Something like this could increase the desirability of fully trained adols, as well as stat items that add specific stats like you mentioned. Furthermore it could add another layer of playability to the game for users like myself who aren't that interested in breeding, preferring instead to interact with the members of my pride."

I think this is a really great idea, but we do have to think of the low-stat rolled uglies. Newer players would be stuck getting the same stuff a lot, while older stat-breeders would always get the best items/food/ect. I propose a tier-within-a-tier kind of structure.

[stat group 1]
level one (bad stuff)
level two (still bad by not quite as)
level three (eh)
level four (okay)
level 5 (decent with a very small chance of winning a great tit or red cock or something)

[stat group 2]
level one (bad stuff)
level two (still bad by not quite as)
level three (eh)
level four (okay)
level 5 (decent with a very small chance of winning a great tit or red cock or something)

*lion stats up, through pvp attacks/battling in explore/items*

So this version would have people across all stats getting really bad stuff to start of with and working from there. Assuming they keep levelling up, the lion will keep cycling through these tiers, but newbies wouldn't be quite as disadvantaged

hm... to an extent i agree with you in sentiment, because i'm always looking out for newer players as well (this is a tough game to be a new player in), but I also wanted this to be a game that would also engage higher stat players. i'm down for the idea of a "tier-within-a-tier" idea, but i don't think the lowest tier for 5000+ lions should have the same rewards as the lowest tier of 0-400 stat lions (those are random numbers, i didn't really have set ideas for tier limits). besides that, though, my main worry would be that it would discourage people from moving up to the next tier if the prizes aren't better, for example, with what you said:

if stat group 1 is 0-399 stats and follows:
level one (bad stuff)
level two (still bad by not quite as)
level three (eh)
level four (okay)
level 5 (decent with a very small chance of winning a great tit or red cock or something)

and stat group 2 is 400-999 stats and follows:
level one (bad stuff)
level two (still bad by not quite as)
level three (eh)
level four (okay)
level 5 (decent with a very small chance of winning a great tit or red cock or something)

then someone with 399 stats would very likely not want to gain anymore stats cuz they would get "bad stuff" again

in my mind, because of this, following just one set of tiers seems simpler, but let me know if you have a counter-idea! grateful for your input regardless ^^ and for bumping this again haha it hadn't seen much attention in a while

Mmm, yeah, it would definitely need that incentive. Well, thanks for replying!
