I had this idea earlier. There are some genetic conditions that do not show until later in life and are lethal. Why not add a few of those to spice up things. They would:

- Only show up at 2 years of age.
- Have health messages like Lethal mutation cubs except maybe every few days [see below v]
- Plenty of time to be cured [usually these conditions do not kill fast]
- Unable to breed, hunt, patrol or rule a pride unless cured [for balance issues]
- Possibly have their own lineart to show their weak state. [Only one mane type on the males, like with adols.]
- Be very, very rare.

An IRL example would be FOP [Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva], soft tissues turning into bone when they get damaged, although it is not adult onset [tends to start at 10 years of age for humans] But by adulthood it would have progressed far enough to be noticable.

There's also certain types of genetic tumors [rats are prone to benign mammary ones that can still kill because of size] and things like Huntington's disease which do show up at complete adulthood only.

This suggestion has 338 supports and 5 NO supports.

Honestly, I thought being blind or faceless would fall in this category, beings how can a blind/eyeless lion/ess hunt, defend itself, or even survive?

I guess the pride supports them [blind/eyeless muts can not hunt or lead already, which I think is a good penalty for something like that.]

Those show as cubs, though, these would not develop until adulthood [if they have unique lines there's already need to be two different ones so no need to pile more work on poor Xy by making it show at teen stage XD]

Edit: Bandit, it would take days [many more than the lethal cubs] for them to actually die, and there would be ample warning beforehand, messages telling you the lion is weakening, etc. Just like with the cubs. And they would be unable to breed as a warning that something is wrong.

I like this idea. Perhaps the lineart could be unchanged during the lions youth, but then the adult lineart would be different since the condition progressed.

I have changed my mind, as I'm apparently illiterate. I think if this is added they must be able to be cured. I support!
