This lioness, now ripe with old age, approached Morbalis. She had been his Moon Graced Shamaness, she who speaks with the spirits of the moon for a grace of rain. Many months passed where she angered him with no answers. Other days she pleased him with guidance to waterholes that barely held on with a few drops to spare for the pride. Now, with the flow of moisture heavy in the air once again, she approached him. Her purpose was served, and she accepted her fate of olden age rendering her useless. Morbalis held a ceremony for her. Every member of the pride attended, even those who resented his style of rule. He spoke to Poiwei of her respected duties. How she would live on with Apedemak amongst the spirits of the Celestial Realm. As he gave his final words of goodbye, the pride rhythmetically thumped their paws on the ground. With the beat of the ground beat the pace of Poiwei’s weak heart before she felt the jaws of her king take away her life into the peaceful grasp of whispers.
