Night in Making

Night followed the late Felix, Zee, home from a large baobab tree she was clinging to in the plains, much like he had found his next heir Mercy. She tailed him at a distance at first, ducking her head in the grass when he looked back and huffing as her malnourished body struggled to keep up. After what felt like hours, Zee turned and told her he could carry her home if she was too tired... And so he did, gently in his jaws despite her adolescent size. She will not tell anyone about it, but she was crying all the way from relief.

Though she did not finish her training, she was elated to finally have a hunting party of her own, Night could barely wait to round up all the new hunters and set for the plains. Feather came first, and the two would sit together as young adults, watching the set parties hunt, both failures and successes. They became fast friends upon both being brought to the pride and failing to complete their training upon reaching adulthood, finding comfort in that they could hunt just as well if they gave it their all like all hunters do, and that it wasn't quite as "the end of the world" as it felt. When the newest adolescents became adults, the two found Sugardust had also not completed her training, and immediately absorbed her into their little gang as to help her through the struggle that was not completing her training, added to the fact that her sister, Snowdown, did, wanting her to realize, that they did, that it didn't make Sugardust any less a capable hunter like any other.
