Macambre froze as he stumbled upon the abandoned cub. Her eyes glowed bright like pink sunsets. His heart skipped a beat as he realized that the tiny cub resembled his long deceased mother, Opal. Immediately becoming emotional, Macambre scooped up the cub gently, his usually bloodthirsty motives gone, replaced by love. “Small one,” he murmured, gazing into the cub’s startled face. “You are a treasure among these other cubs. Please, join me and my pride will welcome you with open arms. I promise.” The silvery brown cub blinked in thought a few times before nodding and grinning. Overjoyed, Macambre purred loudly and nuzzled the small lioness. He set her back down and she hopped forward to his side. Macambre paused before leaving the tree with her. “You’ll be regarded as the first true Princess of the Sol pride, despite being my adopted daughter you still are my daughter. Your name will be Princess Starlight,” he glanced down at the young lionesses who purred in response and stumbled forward excitedly, eager to meet her new family.
