"There are things coming, things that will shrivel lions up inside. Through it all, you are their eve-happy girl, their ray of light, their Constant Cheer."
Personality
Cheer strains to keep her smile on no matter what's happening. She won't crack under the pressure and fall prey to sorrow or anger. She's in a fiercely good mood at all times, determined to make everyone feel good about themselves. She's intelligent and seeks out knowledge as a protection against evil. She's sincere and honest, almost in a naïve way, and can hurt other lions with this. She's not very subtle, not great at reading social cues. She's good at a lot of things, a great huntress, mother figure, and intellectual. She keeps herself active and cheerful.
Backstory
Cheer's mother, Hummingbird Mint, belonged to this pride. Cheer was protected by her mother, and raised by her mother and grandmother together. Her grandma, Horizon Red, was the broodmother, and Cheer spent a lot of her time playing with the other cubs of the pride. She was well-liked, and she had a good time. Her grandmother started to teach her to be a broodmother, seeing how good she was with the younger cubs. She excelled at her training, and soon Horizon stepped down so Cheer could have more practice, though she stilled helped her quite a lot. One day, though, Horizon was tasked with caring after Wine's young son, The Silence. She was found with her throat ripped open, and it was clearly the young boy who had done it. Cheer mourned her grandmother, but stepped up. Things were already going so very wrong in the pride, and it was clear that Silence was the beginning of something far more sinister. Cheer decided then to never let anyone see her unhappy, and to never fall under the wicked spell that had been cast over the rest of the pride. Hummingbird Mint died, though, and Cheer struggled to stay happy. She was on the brink when the storm finally broke. There was a collective sigh of relief. Things weren't fixed - it would be a long time before they were. But Monarch had finally let go, and a new queen had stepped up, gifted by the orishas.
How do you feel about Rose Queen?
"I think we were strong enough to survive alone, but it was a kindness to send us Rose Queen. I feel badly for Monarch, who was so hurt, and for this pride. Rose Queen has divinity to her, and although she seems almost too kindly to understand what we went through, she's here to help."
Who is your favorite lion?
"My grandmother, Horizon Red, helped raise me and taught me help raise others. I loved my nana so much. I also loved my mother, Hummingbird Mint."
Who is your least favorite lion?
"I don't do least favorites. I love who I love, and I try to like who I don't."
