Maneater Zylandos

This pride used to be a pawn of divinity, dominated by angels at the helm, and Nephelines through the ranks. Strangely, quite quietly, the last king, Twilit, seemed to pluck away the strings of the angels' control, and the heavenly didn't seem to react to letting go, either. Without so much of a noise, divinity reliquished this pride of lions, whether aware of doing so or not.
The pride was wiped as well, as constant exposure to divine radiation surely did immense damage to the lionesses; after witnessing even a sliver of true, blessed Light itself, and the plans of the angels, no lion could simply return to normal life. Death was a blessing to free them from the parasite of Otherworldly Knowledge their animal brains were never made to comprehend. Twilit lived up to his name, finally bringing forth the twilight and setting of the Light that equally blessed and tormented this pride.

Then, something else changed. First Twilit disappeared, leaving the pride wondering ans confused, then Zylandos appeared. Easily taking the empty throne, Zylandos was quiet and strange, but only got stranger in time. Mushtooms of all kinds began growing all over the den walls, some glowing faintly. Some ladies were concerned for this, as the spores made it hard to breathe, but Zy seemed to not notice they were there, growing more quiet and robotic in movement over time. He also didn't seen to notice when they started growing on his skin. As the mushrooms overtook the den, the ladies stopped noticing them as well, and became placcid much like their king.

Lions in the neighbourhood started giving a wide berth to the strange mushroom den, and the violent smilus king covered in mushrooms. They wondered if the pride previously touched by divine light still had a strong capacity for the unknown to take control of, and if something else took the oppotunity to take it's place. Still, it wasn't worth their life, or spreading whatever was going on to their pride, to find out. Neighbouring prides are discussing seeking out intervention from other beings, for now.
