About Scarlet Pride

As you stagger into a mountainous region of land, you find that the atmosphere has gotten lighter under the intense heat and humidity, encouraging you take a seat beneath one of the scattered, scarcely covered trees and take a rest in what shade they have to offer. However upon seating yourself under the tree, you notice a small group of lionesses approaching in the distance, almost as if they had been informed of your arrival. The front leading lass--appearing to be no older than an adolescent pauses in front of you a considerable distance away, far enough to keep a safe distance but close enough to be heard without yelling, "Salutations and welcome to Scarlet lands," she muses with a friendly smile, offering you a curt nod of her head. "You look like you could use a drink, come with us."

You notice then that while you had been focused on the young feline, you hadn't realized that the flanking lionesses had surrounded you in a loose circle--all keeping the same distance from you. Obviously in this weather no smart minded individual would give up a drink, so you rise from your seat and follow the small lioness, an air of uncertainty cloaking you as the group enters a foliage covered entryway, revealing a waterfall surrounded by other--armed--lionesses. "Is this okay with your King?" you inquire, looking around the cooler area with wide, intrigued eyes. The leading lass turned with a smiling face and replied, "Yes, it's okay with me."

Leading you down the well walked pathway you squint your eyes in confusion, trying to guess what the young lioness was implying, but before you could open your jaws to ask, they stop just by the waterfall. "I am King Kasper. You'll have to excuse my current appearance, my heiress and I are currently undergoing a ceremony for her crowning taking place just a few short months from now. What you see on me is her--Scarlet Prides future Empress." Upon this, King Kasper gives a nod in the direction of the small path leading behind the waterfall, "Please, join me for a meal. My ladies are already packing you a small bag to get you by for the next few days."

As the two of you disappear behind the waterfall to eat your meal, the Monarch begins to explain the history of Scarlet Pride, in hopes of relieving some of your apparent confusion and curiousity...

Scarlet pride was created when King B and Queen Genevieve found this secluded spot closer to the mountainous regions they'd been traveling towards--it started with just them and their friend Dove. They'd built their kingdom from the ground up, recruiting other lions and enlarging the caves inside of the mountainside, going as far as to create an entire subsection entirely just for broodmothers and the Pride's younglings. However once the original rulers had found their death nests, a newcomer had barged in and swept the entire pride out from under their dying paws--leading to decades of suffering and cruelty from their second King and ruler, Lord Cassius and his heir who would become the third ruler, taking his father's name. Both lions brought such distress to the terrain and their lionesses that a mass majority of the felines had tried to leave, the greenery had begun to drain of it's color and wither--any lion caught trying to leave had been killed on sight in front of their pridemates to set examples.

This reign of savagery had gone on for years--going through only one arranged mating, Queen Lillian, who, upon Cassius' death had kept her seat as Queen and ruled along side her son. The ruthless pair had fallen ill within years of the other's death due to eating sickly prey that'd been infected and struck by the queen and her small court; because behind his back, Lillian had been raising a young primal cub to walk the path of kindness and compassion--hoping that one day he would take the throne from his adoptive brother's paws. When Cassius had lay in his den dying, Lillian had taken over with her court, leading in the cub's stead until he was old enough to face the dying, crazed male--who spit and hissed the entire time Kasper had come out as the new king. But eventually as all things did, Lillian and Cassius had passed away and Kasper was in charge.

Kasper helped rebuild and replenish their dying sanctuary--allowing all lions and lionesses to come and go as they pleased, offering refuge for travelers and helping care for the helpless, just as his mother had taught him. The territory grew again, more and more lions began to join and everything was on the rise--even through plagues, celestial spirits, and poachers. He is the current king and nearing his own passing, thus calling for the ceremony that gradually changes his appearance with his future heir--a little trick they'd picked up from the Shaman's that appear each year; where they come and go is a mystery to him, but he enjoys their company nontheless--most of the time.
