Aren Eldun's Den

You find yourself in the middle of the jungle, not an uncommon place to be now that the weather is getting hotter and everyone looks for the shadow of the trees and the relief of running water. Although maybe you shouldn't have entered so deep this time, the vegetation is getting weird as is the fauna, long vines hang from the top of the tall and slender trees, which are starting to almost block the sun completely, making you feel a little claustrophobic, you start walking towards a place that seems to be more open, a few rays of sunlight leaking through the leaves but ypu are still following the sound of a waterfall that has been guiding you for a while.

Once you make it to the clear in the jungle you can see a pool underneath a waterfall, a hiding paradise of colorful flowers and dense vegetation, colorful and weird looking birds singing their songs as a welcome. As you approach the fresh water to take a drink, the sun at your back, a rainbow appears where the waterfall touches the surface of the pool, hadn't you taken a minute to admire the colors you probably wouldn't have noticed the pair of eyes fixated on you, shining in the shadows of a cave behind the waterfall, like gems under water.

The more you try to identify the shape of the lion behind the mist and the light the harder it is to see, until he moves to plain sight, his eyes still evaluating you, trying to decide if you're a friend or a foe. As soon as his coat touched direct light you understood why you couldn't see him behind the rainbow, his pelt shined with the same vibrant colors.

Without giving you time to do much, the lion turned around and disappeared back behind the waterfall, upon closer inspection you realized that a cave opening was there, but instead of the humid and trapped smells of a normal cave this one smelled like fresh wind and a faint scent of flowers, you decide to step inside and what you find fascinates you.

Once you enter the cave you are surprised to notice that it is way bigger than you thought, but especially you are mesmerized by the shiny crystals on the walls, illuminating everything with colorful light. Strange flowers and gigantic mushrooms grow everywhere, mimicking trees and plants. It's almost like a completely different world down there.

In the middle of the cave, under a giant blue crystal, there's a lagoon, and around it you can notice movement, you can see the colorful lion approaching his family, a pride of lionesses as colorful as the surroundings, their stripes and spots seem to be glowing a little under the light of the crystals, some colorful cubs jumping in between the ferns and following their mothers, mreawing all the way.

You notice that these lions are perfectly adapted to this big cave system, their dark bases merging with the shadows and their colorful spots and stripes mimicking the fluorescent plants and crystals around them.

A particularly colorful young lioness notices you and warmly approaches—Welcome to the Crystal Caves—she says excitedly—Now open to visitors!
