Plot:
Hunters have been moving in on the land, killing all animals. Construction workers are right behind them, destroying everything else in their wake as they work to expand their city. Now the animals of the forest must escape or pay for their lives for staying behind.
However, they'll never survive alone. Prey is scarce since the humans cause so much noise and their water is becoming polluted to the point the fish are dying and it stinks too badly to even attempt drinking. This will cause different species to either group together and travel as one of the most unusual packs ever, or face their death by going at it alone. Which will you choose?

Rules:
- be polite OOC to eachother
- be semi lit - literate
- must respond often. If you don't respond within 4 - 7 days, I'll give you a warning. If it happens a second time, you will be out. If you are going to be gone for a while, let me know.
- stick with lioden rules. If you want to go into more detail with certain things (i.e. breeding, gory fights, ext.) go to pm's
- No godmodding
- you can play up two or three characters each but must be able to keep up with that amount. Also, your own characters cannot be in love with each other
- try to stick to more realistic colors for your animal
- different species can fall in love with each other and produce half breed pups/kits/cubs whatever you wanna call 'em
Replies must be at least a paragraph.

Wait for two other people to reply before you do to avoid 1x1 happening.

Trija | Tiger | female |mentions: none, open |

Trija padded around her small strip of territory, she was hungry and getting thinner by the day, since the hunters started taking her prey from the forest. Walking further, towards her small den, she felt a sharp pain in her paw. She winced at the pain and lifted her foot to see a thorn sticking out of her paw, these didn't usually cause her much pain, but getting thinner and weaker had made her more sensible to pain. She gently grabbed the thorn between her teeth and pulled, it slipped out leaving a small dot of blood where it had stuck her. Trija continued to limp away to her den and step lightly on her injured pad.

Valka | wolf | female | mentions: none, open |

Valka trotted over to a small stream and sipped on the cool water, it refreshed her and brought her hope for the forest. The stream was where her foster mother used to take her as a pup. Sitting up she watched the stream that brought back memories of her beloved cougar foster mother. Valka wondered if she still lived among the forest.

Wren | Brown Bear | Mentions: n/a, open for interaction

It wasn't unheard of for bears to travel dozens, if not hundreds, of kilometers to seek out food and maintain their dominion of a territory. But that was within their home range, it was an entirely different subject when the beast was caught well beyond his usual stomping grounds.

He had been walking for... how many sols again? If he remembered his count correctly, ten? Even with stopping to sleep or graze he had been able to cover a considerable amount of ground and soon found himself within the labyrinth of an entirely new forest. A thick haze of morning fog hugged the trees and surrounded him, making his vision meager at best; not that it was a bother, he relied more on his nose than his eyes anyway.

He traveled deeper into the unknown woods until the trees started to thin out into a narrow glade with a stream cutting through it. The grass there had grown tall and dense, a perfect opportunity to graze and catch up on calories burnt during his travels. It wasn't long before he was ripping up grass by the mouthful and feasting upon it.

//ooc: I'll bring Palpetta in with a separate post later on.

Hunter - cougar -

Yawning a little, Hunter woke up to the sounds of birds flying into the air with a squack. They sounded rather alarmed so something was in the forest disturbing the peace yet again. Opening her eyes, she turned her gaze downward. Normally her kind would sleep in dens or caves that they found. She preferred trees. At the moment she was stretched on a large branch high up an old oak tree.

Below her were the sounds of humans and their dogs. She knew those yappy creatures would soon pick up her scent and bark up her tree. Then she'd be in trouble since those humans could kill her kind very easily. She'd learnt that the hard way. Climbing down the tree, she began to trot away, know there was a stream close by where she could swim through to wash away her scent. However, what she wasn't counting on was the appearance of a hunter already at the stream. The human turned and raised his silver thing that brought death. Turning tail, she bolted back into the trees but not without a loud shot being fired and a sharp pain striking her left rear leg. For a moment, her legs gave out on her but she pushed on. The sound of the dogs was getting closer and she needed to get away fast.

Ivy - squirrel monkey

Swinging from one branch to the next, Ivy was growing rather tired. She'd been traveling for days without the sign of her group. It seemed she'd truly lost them. With a heavy sigh, she sat down amongst the branches of a pine tree, wondering what she should do now. Perhaps she could find a new friend to share adventures with! Yes, that was a great idea. Now then, she just had to find that perfect someone for a friend. Or maybe multiple friends! Yes, yes! That was even better! Now then....Where to start looking?

Tomas | Male | 4 years | Amur Tiger
Mentions: Skylar, Open for Interaction

Tomas was lying on his back, his paws hanging in the air above him. He let out a wide yawn, his teeth shining in the light. He felt so calm and relaxed. He wasn't entirely sure when he would find another good meal, but for the moment, he didn't mind too much. As much as he would like to hunt, he would rather be out here by himself, just relaxing in the sun's rays. And he was here with Skylar, wherever that bird was. Knowing him, he had probably taken off to go snicker at someone in the pack. The last time Tomas had seen him, the bird was perching on a branch to the side.
"What are you doing over there, Sky?" he asked. When Skylar didn't answer, Tomas flipped onto his side. "Sky?" He looked around, his ears twitching. He didn't hear the falcon anywhere, and that unnerved him. "Skylar?" Where was that falcon? Concern blossomed in Tomas's chest, and he stood up, his tail flicking in agitation. He called out again, his voice rumbling with worry.
The falcon flew down towards him rapidly, his sudden appearance making Tomas's teeth bare instinctually. Skylar flipped around and landed on his usual perch between Tomas's shoulders, his talons gently digging into Tomas's thick white fur. "Sky, don't scare me like that!" Tomas growled, twisting his head to attempt a glance at Skylar - as usual, the bird was just out of view. "What were you out doing? You weren't screwing around again, were you? You almost got swiped by one of the cougars, Sky; you need to be more careful!"

Skylar | Male | 3 years | Peregrine Falcon
Mentions: Tomas, Open for Interaction

Skylar rolled his eyes, clacking his beak as he adjusted his wings into a neat alignment on his back. "Relax, Tommy," he said with a laugh, hopping up and poking Tomas's ear with his beak. The tiger's ear twitched, and Skylar moved away. "I was just hunting. Caught a squirrel. I would have shared with you, but... Well, you could eat ten squirrels and still be unfazed." Tomas was fine with Skylar hunting for himself, as a falcon needed much less food than a tiger did. Tomas usually hunted by himself anyway, going out to hunt prey bigger than a squirrel. Unfortunately, these days, he rarely found anything that would feed him, let alone all the others in the pack.
"And what do you mean, that cougar almost caught me?" Skylar scoffed, fluffing up his feathers in indignation. He stepped onto Tomas's back so the tiger could see him clearly if he craned his neck. "i was into the sky before that little kitty could blink. Do you doubt my magnificent speed, Tommy?" Skylar was very prideful of the fact that he was a Peregrine Falcon - the best bird in the world, according to him. He could fly unbelievably fast, and when he hunted other birds he caught them with ease. Tomas snorted and rolled his eyes, and Skylar poked at his ear again. As Tomas slumped back down on the ground, they tossed back and forth playful insults, not hungry at the current moment. They were lucky they caught enough food to tide them over.

Trija | bengal Tiger | female | mentions: (who ever wants to be scented by her, XD)

Trija attempted to put weight on her pad, it stung a little, but it wasn't bad to her relief. though she was hungry. this morning she had patrolled her small strip of land only to find that there were no prey scents left in her territory. Meaning she would have to travel, which she wasn't always fond of. heaving a sigh she began to pad along the edge of her borders before exiting into the unexplored area of the forest. her paws made soft thuds on the ground as she walked and she closed her eyes for a minute, listening to them seemed to sooth her. Suddenly she caught the scent of an animal though she couldn't tell what type. opening her eyes, she looked around, the scent was strong but there was no creatures around and Trija could not tell if the animal was to be prey or a threat.

Valka | wolf | female | mentions: Hunter (indirectly at the moment) |

Valka stepped along-side the river for a heartbeat before she heard a gunshot. her tail shot up and her ears became pricked and alert. She had seen a cougar right outside her borders quite often, but she didn't expect that she would be shot, the cougar always seemed on high guard to her and usually had a good idea of her surroundings. Valka hated the thought of anyone getting hurt, she picked up a fast trot and headed towards the edge of the territory where she sometimes saw the female cougar.

Palpetta | Pallas's Fish Eagle | Mentions: Ivy (briefly), Trija

Disgusting!

The fish in these parts were pathetic at best; bony, small, and tasteless! In her dominion she ate only the biggest and most robust fish she could capture, none of this scavenging nonsense. Each sol that passed since the fall of her queendom only served to make her bitter and resentful of the humans. No territory, no mate, no one to command under her iron talons... bah! She loathed it. With a chuff she shoved aside the picked over remains of her meal and took to the skies, riding a thermal up to a suitable, albeit low, cruising altitude.

Her gliding carried her over the tops of the trees. At first the foliage was dense, but over time it grew thinner and easier to peer through. Sharp vision brought nothing entirely new. A deer here, a squirrel there... was that a monkey? Unsatisfied as she was with her previous meal, she'd pass up a hunt with the tiny primate for the time being. Moving on, the eagle continued scanning around, quietly stewing in her frustration and anger. That's when she caught an interesting sight. A splash of orange and black in the midst of greens and browns. A tiger? Hmmmm, she didn't see those cats often, let alone in such an emaciated state. With a sharp tilt of her head she gradually descended, keeping at a safe distance.

Chenoa | Female | 4 years | Brown Bear
Mentions: None, open for interaction

The rather large, yet normal size, form of the brown bear trekked the land. Chenoa was a four year old brown bear, walking way far from her territory, as she had 'recently' been forced out by the human poachers. The brutes. The sow had just wanted to settle down in her own territory, possibly start a family, and what had she gotten instead? Humans trying to kill her. What even did they want from her? She didn't think she'd taste very good. And her fur... Well, yeah sure, her fur was rather pretty, but what use did humans have for fur? Shrugging, she continued walking, tongue drawing across her brown lips as she walked.

Brown eyes laying on a forest up ahead, she let out a sigh of relief. There was most likely water in there, and food. Mhm... Food... Shaking her head, she entered the dense part of the forest, deciding to get a drink of water before she hunted, as being dehydrated wasn't good, especially if you're planning on hunting another creature- since her stomach was too hungry for her to just eat berries, or plants. Sniffing, she soon smelled the scent of water- no matter how little it was- and picked up her pace, going up to a silent, slow gallop. As she slowed to a stop at the river, which was in the thin part of the trees, she bent down and over and, putting only about half an inch of her muzzle in the water, she drank it, ears perked to avoid any surprise attacks, if they should come.

Abraham | Male | 3 years | Cougar
Mentions: INDIRECTLY -> Hunter, Dogs, Poachers || DIRECTLY -> Hunter, Dogs, open for interaction

Abraham, a rather strong yet agile cougar, lay in the top of a tree, head resting on the branch, body fully on it, his tail the only thing hanging off. At the sound of a gunshot, the male almost jumped, but luckily he didn't, his head shot up though, ears swiveling forward and perking, fur bristling slightly. Only a mere second after the shot was heard- a mere second- he heard a yelp of an animal. A cougar. Curious, he stood up and walked across the branch, climbing down the trunk forwards, leaping forward and landing on the ground silently and with agility. Once again, his ears shot up at the sound of barking. Dogs... What has this cougar gotten into...? he thought, cocking his head slightly.

Deciding to see for himself, he bounded towards the sound and, after a minute or two, his eyes stopped on a moving form- his legs still extending and moving back as he ran. It was a cougar, a female one to be more specific, and there were about two, or more- since he couldn't see that clearly, considering he was running, the dogs were running, and they were in the forest- dogs following her. Abe let out a snarl to her, letting the female know he would help her. Well, the least he could do was kill the dogs for her. It wasn't like he would leave a fellow cougar, that had been shot, to the dogs... He roared, this time towards the dogs, a warning one, a very scary one as well, as he had a rather fearsome, strong, and quite terrifying form- when threatening at least.

(( Cougar/Puma/Mountain Lion (same thing) Sounds - Here are some sounds. The roar he did was the second one there, and the snarl was the first, the ones I'll MAINLY use for him- even though I might use some others at points, though I will let you know when I do. :D
Sorry these were bad... :I ))

Sundance | Female | 3 yrs | Ferruginous Hawk | Mentions: Hunter (indirect)

Sundance was slowly flying over the forest when she saw a flash of light– sunlight reflecting off metal. She spiraled lower, and picked out a dog with an eye-burning orange collar. Damn humans, killing us for sport. You'd think their leaders would make rules against killing animals with their flashy boomsticks, but nope. I wonder if I can scare the human... Sundance thought maliciously. She saw it aiming at something.Great, it already found a victim. She dove at it's shoulder, letting out a long "KREEEEEEEEE!!" and tore through its pelt. Before the human could figure out what happened, she turned around and flew right in its face, flapping her wings angrily. It yelled something at it's dog friend, who ran and jumped at the hawk. Sundance was skilled in rudely teasing the humans, however, and swerved and landed on the ground nearby, and the dog jumped right into its human friend, and even bit it's face. Sundance couldn't help it– she laughed at the stupid thing. The human noticed her, finally, and started yelling at her, waving the boomstick around. Sundance mockingly tilted her head, so she looked confused but unfazed, which only got the human more frustrated. I love these stupid things. Sundance thought before asking, "What's the matter, silly beast?" Of course, it couldn't understand her any more than she could understand it, but its reaction at the questioning noise was hilarious. She flew off in the direction it was aiming, hopefully avoiding getting hit by the boomstick or the dog, and seeing if the human's would-be victim was alive, wounded, or if the human missed. Never hurts to check.

(OOC: My first post for this RP is scarily short. Oops.)

Luna || Female || Black Bear || 6 months || Dogs - Open!

Luna was scared.

Naturally, the cub would be any day, but she gripped the trunk of the tree she had been sleeping in. The sound of angry barks filed the air, and Luna remembered when her mother was killed by poachers... Shaking, she didn't dare look down, but instead buried her muzzle into her own front leg as if to shrink away. She wasn't all the way into the tree, but instead a good halfway up it, just out of immediate sight. If one looked, they might see the black bear cub.

Trija | Bengal Tiger | female | mentions: Palpetta

Keeping still trija continued to look around, she had identified the scent to be a bird and was keeping her glances to the sky. Looking again she saw the bird, it was descending towards her. she fattened her ears as it came closer, she noticed that it was a fairly large bird with a light-colored head and black wings. It had a sharp beak and Trija didn't want to have to fight it for a meal so she left the thought of eating it early on. "who are you?" she called from the ground, her head craned high to the sky as it followed the bird down. As she waited for a response she realized that the Eagle was keeping a safe distance from her. smart bird, she thought with a snort.

Valka | wolf | female | mentions: Hunter (indirectly at the moment) approaching Luna |

Valka strode at a hurried pace towards the area she had last scented the cougar. As she made her way there, she noticed a small trail of blood leading from the river, though she couldn't tell which direction it came from she decided to follow it. Just as she was about to set off again, she heard the sound of barking hounds dangerously close to her. She stood there for a moment, stunned, before she bolted towards a near by tree-cover. she could still hear the dogs behind her, she didn't know if they had caught her scent, but all she new was that she had to get out of there now. she pelted towards the trees and skidded to a halt behind a small tree. Hoping she was safe.

Tomas | Male | 4 years | Amur Tiger
Mentions: Skylar, Luna

Tomas laughed deeply, grinning as Skylar did another loop in the air. "Show-off!" he shouted up at the falcon, slowly plodding along the ground. He had always wondered what it would be like to fly about on a set of wings. No doubt it was glorious - after all, what a view! Birds could see so much, with their sharp eyesight and the ability to fly above any object. Tomas laughed again as Skylar swooped towards him, just to bank back into the air, his wings flapping furiously.
His laugh cut off as his ears caught a distant sound. What is that? he thought, narrowing his eyes in concentration. It took him another moment, but then he realized it was dogs. Plural. And the sounds of their barks was not a pleasing sound. Tomas looked up at Skylar. The bird was cocking his head to the side, having hearing the barking as well. "Come on, Sky!" Tomas shouted to Skylar. "Who knows what those dumb mutts are up to? We need to chase them out of the territory, now!"
As he broke into a sprint, he found the surroundings not as familiar as he would have liked. He was typically lax when it came to patrolling his meager territory - after all, with the hunters moving in as much as they did, the number of animals around had dwindled significantly. As he approached the sounds of the dogs, Skylar suddenly let out a screech and twisted around to go back to him. Tomas skidded to a stop, tail flicking as he looked up at the bird. "Sky, what is it?"
=
Skylar | Male | 3 years | Peregrine Falcon
Mentions: Tomas, Luna

"There's something in that tree, up ahead," Skylar murmured, alighting on Tomas's back. "I only caught a glimpse, and I twisted around too fast to get a good look. I don't know what it is, but it could be something lying in wait for an ambush. What do we do?" Tomas looked ahead, narrowing his eyes at the tree Skylar spoke of. "Well, this is still my territory," Tomas said, his voice steely. "I'm going to figure out who it is, and hunt them down for ignoring my scent marks." Skylar rolled his eyes; the tiger's scent in this area was practically nonexistent, but who was Skylar to judge?
Tomas started forward, prowling towards the tree. Skylar leapt off his back, flying slower and giving his wings the opportunity to stay quiet. He couldn't see well enough still, but he caught a flash of black fur up in the tree. He flew higher up, landing on a tree branch. He craned his neck, staring down at the form. It was... definitely not what Skylar was expecting. A panther, maybe, or human hunter dressed in black. Not... Not this.
As Skylar opened his beak to tell Tomas about the small bear cub, Tomas's deep, threatening voice rumbled out. Tomas was kind and calm, but he could be ferocious when he chose to. "You, in the tree!" Tomas shouted, letting out a dark growl. "Tell me who you are, immediately! This is my territory, and I won't be having intruders upon my land." His tail lashed. "If you don't come down within ten seconds, I'm going to crawl up there and get you."
Skylar wanted to laugh. For one, Tomas was enormous, even for a tiger - he may be able to climb, but he would have a difficult time reaching that height. And two, because it was simply a harmless little bear cub, and Tomas would be horrified to know that he just threatened a cub.

Wren | Brown Bear | Mentions: Chenoa

The grazing did little to satiate the vast majority of his hunger, but a few pounds of nutrient rich grass would hold him over until he could find a suitable fishing ground. He could have continued on for hours, but a shift in the wind brought with it a scent that gripped his attention.

He gulped down his last bite of grass and then reared up to jut his nose into the breeze. He knew that scent, he knew it far too well: a female ursa. It the best of scenarios his thoughts would have been on more mature subjects, but it was a dull sense of curiosity that spurred him on. In his travels he hadn't seen a single other ursa, if there was another of his kin around here... perhaps that meant there was some potential for this area.

With a huff he dropped back down onto all fours and began a casual walk along the shore of the water body, his nose turned up to follow the scent trail.

Valka | wolf | female | mentions: Luna, Tomas, Skylar |

Valka panted behind the tree she had stopped behind, she had given all her energy to fear and was more jumpy than ever now. The sound of a booming voice from beside her made her jump and pin her ears to her head, frightened. When she realized the voice was not directed towards her it gave her a moment of relief before she realized she was standing a little way off from an agitated white tiger. Her mouth dropped open slightly in fear and she tucked her tail between her legs. Her eyes were full of fear and she couldn't, nor did she want to, speak. She had never seen a tiger as huge as the one that stood near her, much less a frustrated one. She began to tremble and let out a soft whimper before slamming her mouth shut and hoping the tiger didn't hear.

Luna || Female || Black Bear || 6 months || Skylar, Tomas

Upon hearing a booming voice, Luna froze, eyes wide. It wasn't until the voice threatened that she made a move to crawl down the tree. Her paws were shaking, making it hard to get a pawhold, but she managed to get onto a low branch to look at the source of the noise.

Luna almost fell off the branch at the sight of the large tiger down below. Gulping, she slid down the rest of the tree, facing the tiger with a terrified expression on her face. She hadn't noticed the tiger's companion yet, nor would it perhaps make her feel better unless she knew he had good intentions.

"I... I'm sorry..." The cub stuttered while looking at the beast.

Chenoa | Female | 4 years | Brown Bear
Mentions: Wren, open for interaction

After the sow finished her drinking of the cool water, she stared at the wide river, eyes following the various shadows under the water. Sure, it wasn't the most suitable fishing area, but if it got her fish, it was fine. Cocking her head only slightly, she let out a small growl before proceeding in moving forward to the middle of the rushing- and rather violent- river. Making sure she stood on a rock, a balanced one, she stood in the middle and waited, and waited. As soon as her eyes caught the fish jumping in the air, she lunged her neck forward, strong jaws snatching the fish. All this happening in a quick, and graceful movement. Quite satisfied- considering how little she had eaten in the past days- she made her way back to shore, jaw closing only slightly, enough to kill it in a short minute.

During this fishing moment, Chenoa had gotten quite wet so, setting the limp body of the fish on the ground, she shook her body and fur, water flying from the brown bear. Turning around, as she was about to eat her fish, her eyes lay on a brown ursa- a male to be exact- in the short distance, at the water's edge as well. Immediately, the sow being a rather reserved and hostile female, she let out a low growl, one that was quiet, yes, yet was loud enough to only be heard by the boar. Moving forward a step- so that the fish was right in front of her paws- her eyes looked down at the dead creature for a moment before travelling back to the male, her stomach rather hungry.
