Please read all the way through this before pressing support or no support.

A lot of people would like to see sub male breeding. It has been said sub male breeding will be rejected, especially as it would make the point of heirs and such useless, BUT I think this might be a compromise. Also, I found this later. It is similar to mine, but addresses problems a little clearer: Another Breeding Suggestion

This could be in the last tier of the February or August Event. For a certain price, you could pay to have one of your sub males breed to a female in heat in your pride once per day. The price would be pretty high (you'd have to pay each day) and I don't think this would interfere with heirs and such. Plus being in the last tier it wouldn't have that many days and this is only one month out of the year.

Also, with this the sub's stats would not count. Only the female's would count. OR possibly just give the cubs NCL level stats. With the August event this would replace the studs before or be added on.

As commented below, another option would be for sub males to only be allowed to breed on Saint Patrick's Day, the lucky day. This would be a once a year breeding. Once again I think it should come with a cost. The girl would have to be in your pride and in heat and each sub can only breed once (or only one sub can breed only once). The NCL stats/female's stats only should also apply to this.

So basically:
- Last Tier Event or One Day Thing
- High Price
- Female must be in your pride
- Female must be in heat
- Can only be used once a day
- Only one sub male can be chosen per day
- Cub stats will be taken from the female ONLY or given NCL stats

I really don't believe this would hurt the stud market or cub market. It's a one event/one time thing that would have consequences for those who want to do. This would not be outright changing the purpose of subs, just mixing it up and making things fun once a year.

Just an idea. I'd love to hear what you guys think. Is this something you would like to see? Do you have something to add? Thank you for reading! And if you say no support, if you feel like it, could you please explain? I can't do anything without feedback.

This suggestion has 35 supports and 24 NO supports.

For cubs. Some people do roleplay and such on the site so I wouldn't immediately call it invalid. It's obviously something people want since it keeps coming up and keeps coming up.. This method would be a controlled way of doing it. Besides, as people have pointed out in other posts on this, sometimes it isn't just one male ruling a pride. And not everyone uses sub slots as just a place to hold the heir.

And what effect does decor have on the game? It's a game. It's meant to be fun.

Not to mention males are going around and flirting with lionesses in other prides in February, so if sub male breeding is going to make sense anywhere, I would think it would be the February event. I was just using my example to show one of many reasons why people want sub breeding.

Okay....but roleplaying has no actual affect on the site, and shouldn't be used as an argument for any suggestion. Unless it's related to roleplaying, which it doesn't.

Decor have no real effect on the game, but that's not a good example at the point you're trying to prove. And you contradicted yourself saying the game is supposed to be fun right after, as decorating your lions is a fun thing to do, I think. Plus, if decor wasn't a thing, Xylax (or Clayton, one of the two depending on things) would be out of a job. Events wouldn't be a thing, because there'd be very little to achieve. Currency would have less of a purpose.

If you aren't using sub slots to hold a heir, why have males at all? Submales can't breed because they'd break the game, that's why it is an automatically rejected suggestion. Heck, male kings would have less of a purpose because they'd just get to explore. There's a reason why one king exists. Being a submale and a king have their advantages and disadvantages for balance. Subs can patrol, kings cannot. Kings can breed, subs cannot. There's individuality to each rank.

Subs do bring in items from patrolling and sparring helps your main male gain experience and impression. The whole kings not having a purpose part was the thing I was trying to avoid in making this an event thing with restrictions.

How was I contradicting myself? Decorating is fun just like sub breeding temporarily in this would be considered for fun more than anything. If you don't want to spend your even currency on it, you wouldn't have to. Perhaps sub male breeding isn't something you want, but I don't think doing it this way harms the game or the markets. So why not have it?

What do you do when your king dies, then? At this point it's just curiosity. But either way, your restrictions are too much to make it even worth it.

"What's the point of decor? Game should be fun." Unless you meant that as a decorating is fun and that's why it exists, I'm pretty tired right now so I'm sorry if I misinterpreted your words.

So to recap, permanently being able to breed subs breaks the game in its own way. Temporary with dozens of restrictions makes it not worth it.

I'll finish with this then.

I do keep one sub spot open for my heir so he can take over. The other four I keep for males I'm fond of or a higher statted one to spar with and patrol.

I don't think this has too many restrictions. And if people really want to do it, they'll have a way even if it's not completely how they want.

Thank you for speaking with me even if we disagree. It got me thinking and researching a a bit more.

I mean, the restrictions are just so specific. And if the lioness you want to breed with isn't in heat, then that's a pretty big letdown, especially if it's just for one day.

A good debate is fun once in a while, so I can agree with that.

As far as the "if you want to breed a lioness that isn't in heat, you're fucked over" bit goes, there's always the Zebra Heart from the Oasis that forces a lioness into heat. It's 2GB, so it's not cheap, but you can plan ahead for the breeding day, if it's implemented, and since it would have a cost already anyone planning to go through with it is fine with that cost.

Say the price is 1500SB, many people value 1GB at 1200SB. If you were to buy the Zebra Heart/GB ahead of time, you could get 2GB for 2400SB, or less depending on the market.
That would bring the total theoretical price up to 3900SB. I personally can make that in two weeks or less of hunting, depending on how active I am at the time.

With that theoretical price, it would be affordable, but still expensive enough to keep it from being too widely used. Even if you bump the price of the breeding up to 2500 or 3500 SB, then the total price would be, what, 4900 or 5900 SB?

If it were ever accepted, it wouldn't be a widely used thing, that's exactly the reason the site owners don't want it in the first place, because 1-5 extra males breeding, per account, all the time, would flood the market really bad. But like Athene said, some people would find it worth it for lore reasons, or just because why the fuck not, honestly. I wouldn't use it, because I refuse to pay that much for a cub with NCL stats, but not everyone gives a shit about that, so *shrugs*

Even if you think it's a pointless idea or it doesn't get accepted, I think it's still worth bringing up, especially with more strict criteria so it actually has a chance this time.
