What are extra marking slots?

As of the 7-28-2017 update, lions are now able to have up to 20 marking slots!
The first ten slots are standard (free), but each additional slot costs 500sb to unlock. After an extra slot is purchased on a lion, you may add any applicable marking you wish (just like a standard marking slot).
Extra marking slots cannot be inherited, and are only good for the lion on which the extra slot was purchased. However, markings in unlocked extra slots can be inherited, but will display as a "hidden marking" until revealed (more info below).

How can I purchase an extra marking slot?

Simply visit the page of the lion you wish to buy an extra marking slot on, scroll down until you see the "appearance" area, and click on the gold "+1 Slot (500 SB)" button located next to the marking slot count. That's all there is to it! :)

What are hidden markings?

Unrevealed marks that are placed beyond the standard ten slots (11-20) are called hidden markings. They must be unlocked with SB to become visible, or to be passed on to cubs. Revealing hidden markings is optional, and is not required for a lion or lioness to function in the game.

Where do hidden markings come from?

Hidden markings can occur in three different ways:

• When at the dreamboat level of impression, lionesses claimed through explore (NCLs) will have a chance of having hidden markings between slots 11-14. If it is a lioness generated by the game, these will be standard and/or event NCL markings.
  
• When a lion and/or lioness with markings unlocked between slots 11-20 is bred, they will have a chance to pass those markings on to their cubs. If inherited, those markings will show as hidden markings on the cubs until unlocked.
  
• On rare occasions, a cub will be born with a completely random rosette marking (excluding mottled rosette) that was not inherited from either parent. This random rosette marking has a chance to spawn between slots 11-20, and will show as a hidden marking until revealed.

How can I reveal a hidden marking?

You can first check to see what a hidden marking is by using the scrying stone in crossroads. It will cost 150sb to check a hidden marking, but this will let you know if you would like to unlock it with 500sb.
If you decide you would like to unlock a hidden marking, you will need to buy extra slots at 500sb per slot up to the marking's location. (Example: If the hidden marking in slot 13, you will need to buy three extra slots, at a total of 1500sb, to unlock that marking).

Important Notes

▪ Extra marking slots count as appearance, so choosing to keep the current king's look when kinging an heir will keep all unlocked marking slots of the king being replaced.
