Pretty simple suggestion. I've noticed, as a writer, that Lioden's events are . . . Badly written. Not to be rude to whoever's doing it, but I'm not wrong; as someone who writes professionally it hurts my heart.

Other sites have paid writers that do dialogue, wiki pages, everything. I know because that's what I do. It's not as expensive as one might think and a big site like LD could afford it.

I think that there needs to be someone hired to write storylines for the events.

If you support, great, if you don't, whatever.

This suggestion has 559 supports and 43 NO supports.

I can’t tell you how much I support this. Lioden’s storylines are enjoyable, but the characters... are jackshit, to be honest. Don’t even get me started on the July event.

*SLAMS SUPPORT*

This so much. I didn't even realize it was bothering me until I read through this thread.

Several people mentioned item descriptions--I recall when I first joined, items are just...so random, and there are SO MANY, that short of having up the wiki on another tab constantly for double-checking whether what I found is useful or not, I had no idea what was valuable or what wasn't. This especially goes for items that are only usable during specific events (African cucumber for example) but have vague descriptions ("An African cucumber with juicy pulp! It might quench some thirst.") Well--cool, quenching some thirst, awesome, but wait, how do I know if my lions are thirsty? I have a hunger bar, not a thirst bar. I'll try using it and see what happens. Huh, nothing happened, must be useless item. *sell all to monkeys* (--- Me, several months ago, before reading up on the events)

Not unrelated, I stopped playing for about a year in frustration.

I've only been active for 1 month with an actual storyline, and while the characterization/tense/etc. left something to be desired, I found it to be the most engaging part of the game while it was around. Each day I was excited to log on and see what happened next. I would genuinely love to see every event month with a fully fleshed out storyline, and a professional writer would be able to do it so much more justice.

So, support. All the support.

Even if only to give more job opportunities to writers, support.

Hey guys, I just popped in to express my side on this ;0;

Firstly we DO have an editor for fixing grammar/typos/mistakes - and if you notice any we missed, please report, I suppose, to bug boards :o

Personally, I absolutely agree there needs to be a writer and we're looking at them for future, it is an expensive thing to do so it's nothing we could have considered in the past. It never meant to be a game with heavy stories or lore, it just sorta grew and grew until we noticed, hey, this game became really alive and there are characters and lore that honestly happened kinda on their own, expanded each year bit by bit as we developed the game contents and mechanics. This is why it might seem so all over the place.

I do agree with some comments that we cannot rewrite/ditch current stuff - I am all for fixing or "building upon" them though!

With our... new game.. ;D we have an oppoturnity we didn't on Lioden - we can plan ahead :D

With Nirah - he was supposed to be a little cute relief between heaven/hell, with a little flamboyant personality ;0; I am sorry if it seems like being gay is the only personality he has, we have very limited steps/areas to make characters shine enough
With Harbinger, we did not want him to be menacing, it was meant to be a very tiny story with a very gentle preparation to October and not really imposing any decisions or philosophy upon player. However I DO plan to expand his world in future and I hope by then we will have a good team of writers :o

I can't really "Add it to the game" yet, but let me assure you this will happen in future <3

I think we all appreciate the hard work you guys have put into something that isn't your professional forte! Despite us all clamoring for a writer, seriously, all the new stories and NPCs have made the game worth re-experiencing, because it is like a brand-new game! I bet most of us just wanna see you have to work less hard on this personally, while still letting LD shine its brightest.

So it's awesome to see you're looking into it, and I do not envy all the writing portfolios you guys're gonna hafta look through to make your decision.

Yes, please! I really want this done for the july event! It has a really promising theme, but it's just so hard to read through it because it gets boring by the end.

Agree! The storylines have a good bit of potential- there just needs to be more substance too the characters!
Though i'm not sure if writers should be voluntary or paid- though judging from Xy's response, they will be paid, which would be rad! :>

And one thing a professional writer could do is make a site-wide plot that lasts all year and changes every year! Don't really know how to implement this in terms of LD, but I think that would be something everyone would like! It would be pretty quiet, pretty laid back most of the time, just hinting at what's to come and providing mini-quests. Then once every two to three months there could be a huge thing that lasts a week and everyone has to work together to overcome the problem!

That would solve the problem of having off events where everything is life or death mixed in with random lighthearted events like February. I mean, the transition from Feb. to Mar. is BRUTAL.

I'm not saying that we should get rid of the events and replace it with a year-long story, because the monthly events are really important. However, I do think that there should be better transitions. And that a year-long story would be really cool.

So there's been a couple comments complaining about how all the events have varying tones, themes, etc., some being relaxed fun and some being epic and serious. In my opinion, this is not a problem, but one of the big strengths of Lioden, because that's what allows all players to have some events they enjoy.

For instance, there are some events I'm really enthusiastic about, one event I don't participate in at all and some that I'm only half-heartedly interested in. Meanwhile, my favourite events are certain other players' least favourites. Because the tone varies, everybody gets to enjoy some of them and can choose to participate in the ones we like. If they were more similar in tone, some parts of the player base would be put off events permanently.

Re: the main subject of the thread, I'm glad that the admins are considering hiring a writer, and also that they plan to build upon the existing stuff!

Late but just my 2¢, I think that Nirah could use a bit of tweaking for those (which I’ve seen some replies and also realized me myself) are just a bit uncomfortable with the whole romance shoved in suddenly. Ngl that Nirah’s cool and all, but that was just a bit of a turn off- even though at the first chance I get i immediately go to hell to side with them.
