Hi! I recently queened a double rosette/mottled stripes lady and had some questions regarding how those markings would be passed down.

How will each of the below scenarios increase/decrease the chances or will they all be the same?
• Breed a rosette lioness to a rosette stud with the same marking (ie mottled rosette x mottled rosette)
• Breed a non rosette lioness to a rosette stud
• Breed a non rosette pon to a rosette stud
• Breed a rosette pon to a rosette stud with the same marking
• Breed a different rosette pon to a different rosette stud (ie mottled rosette x ebony heavy rosette)

Next, I have a couple questions regarding breeding mutations.
Firstly, will the chances of passing down an inheritable mutation increase if the stud/lioness also has the same mutation (ie harlequin x harlequin)?
Second, I constantly see mutated lionesses giving birth to cubs that all have different mutations in the same litter. How does this happen and what items are most likely used? I have seen an achromia give birth to AMPs or vice versa.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Heya!

Rosettes have their own system of passing, they appear "randomly" on cubs, but also pass from the parents that have them, although it's a rare occurrence. Unfortunately, official pass rates were never shared, nor the "code" to breeding rosettes "randomly".

Due to that, I can't specify how exactly these occurrences raise the chance of passing the marking, but I can share what I know about markings passing in general!

Basically, if you want it to pass from a parent, to make your chances the biggest, try breeding a lioness with this marking to a stud that has the exact same marking in the same slot - this will "double" the chance of passing the marking onto the cubs.

Leopons also have higher chances of passing down Mottled Rosette to their cubs in general.

As for your mutation related questions:

"Firstly, will the chances of passing down an inheritable mutation increase if the stud/lioness also has the same mutation (ie harlequin x harlequin)?"
- Yes, but only if the mutation passes down from both parents (like Patches/Piebald) - which means it won't apply to Primals, for example.

"Second, I constantly see mutated lionesses giving birth to cubs that all have different mutations in the same litter. How does this happen and what items are most likely used? "
- This is because most mutations do not pass naturally - players usually use some special breeding items to produce mutations. I'd suggest reading this guide! LINK

Hope this helps you a bit!

Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it ^.^

So to clarify, even if I breed a primal male with a primal female it will have the same pass rate as breeding a normal lioness to a primal male?

I just got a random rossette cub from one of my lionesses, neither parents had the genetics.

IF you breed female FERUS to male Ferus you have a higher chance for Ferus cubs ^-^ But it works only with Ferus variation. This is because Ferus is the only primal variation which can pass from the females as well.

The same rule (of both parents having the same mutation -> increased chance of it passing) applies to dorsal fur mutation.
