I celebrate Hanukkah and I don't mind the MOD's having simi-Christmas events like the Advent countdown that went up today but I can't help but feel a little burnt that tonight is the first night of Hanukkah and all I got on here was an advent calendar. Am I the only one that feels this way?

I can't even imagine having this mentality.

The mods are doing something nice for you that they in no way have to do, and your reaction is 'oh, but it's not ENOUGH'.

Full support! It would be really nice to have other holidays involved during this event and not just Christmas, even if it is just vaguely related. It adds more depth to the game and it would make more people happy to have something that involves something they celebrate!

I'm stumped by this suggestion, as if you open it up to one holiday, there's going to be the door for many more suggestions of many more holidays.
Especially when this one includes religion (granted Christmas and Easter I think do but).
There's so many smaller holidays and it's very hard to accommodate every single one.

While I understand where you are coming from, OP, you could have worded this a bit better than "They HAVE to include it".

A way you could have re-worded this suggestion could be

"So I celebrate Hanukkah, I think we should have multiple different 'mini events' based on these holidays around christmas. I believe it would be a good way to teach others some aspects of different celebrations, without completely deviating away from Christmas itself. I understand that it would be a hard thing for the MODS to code, but I believe if done right it would be an excellent learning experience for everyone".

Christmas is one of the most popular holidays around the world in general, regardless of religion or general world view. That's why a lot of games include it and not other holidays traditionally associated with certain religions or world views. While it does suck a little to be in the minority, from a business and global culture perspective, including Christmas is the most logical over other potential holidays.

As for including other holidays, you run into an issue of overcrowding when you start adding. If anything were to get added, for this game Kwanzaa would make more sense than Hanukkah.

But if you start adding with Hanukkah, then you'd have to add Kwanzaa, then Yule, and then Beltane, and the Solstice, and in the end everything just ends up overcrowded. It's a very complicated balancing act, and no decision will ever make everyone happy. But like how October has to balance out killing rabid animals with seeking halloween encounters, it can get feel difficult to keep up or make decent headway in any goal when you start throwing too much stuff out there. And some encounters just never pop up, leaving people feeling even more left out to keep missing it. From a gameplay and mechanics perspective, keeping just the one holiday tie-in is the cleanest and simplest way to go, and for that you have to go with the more popular holiday.

(Side note on your Advent burn - it's the first night of Hanukkah, and there are 8 days worth of doors to open on the "Advent". Sounds like it worked out better than in most years, actually, since you'll be able to get a Lioden gift every day of Hanukkah, even if it's under a different name.)

Timber~

You know what a good idea would be tbh. Perhaps making an event that is based around these different holidays. They seem to have a general theme about them. I don't know how they would manage to implement them, but perhaps taking different aspects of each of the holidays and perhaps making a very sweet storyline around them?

Lioden is supposed to be an escape from the real world. I think implementing too much real life aspects, such as religion/real life holidays are not a good idea.

@Jingle Bell Rox,
Considering there's a whole event regarding the negative effects of poaching, multiple explore encounters depicting the negative impact of pollution, and other events based on real-life religions and holidays, this sort of feels weak as an argument?
This could also just be implemented as more of a vague nod to Hannuka, I don't celebrate it myself but maybe something related to lighting candles could be added. Lighting candles are a fairly neutral thing to do during the winter season, and I've heard people who celebrate Hannuka really enjoy that aspect of the holiday.

Edit: Lighting candles is also something that's done in Kwanzaa, so it could also be included!

Frankly I wouldn't care if more holiday stuff was implemented but rly, I'd rather not have any holiday/religion specific stuff at all if I'm being honest lol. Also the advent calendar isn't any specific holiday focused at all? Like? It's not any holiday it's just a calendar with little decor gifts per day?

TBH I don't get how December event is Christmas centered at all tho? It doesn't seem to focus on Christianity [idk spelling forgive me] or whatever but rather just snowy-time stuff most. IDK though I don't rly get into it so maybe I missed something owo?

I'm not fond of the poaching event so I'm not sure what to tell you there.

I grew up celebrating Hannakkah as I was raised Jewish, I just don't see a need to open the door to religious holidays being implemented.

@Zambs - Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Advent a religious thing.
I'm not religious so I don't really know lol

Fully support! I have a few friends who celebrate Hanukkah, and even just something like a menorah would be nice to see, just to incorporate one of the most popular holidays, if not the second most popular

I don't believe anyone's asking for an extreme inclusion of all things religious. It would simply be nice to see more parts of our world to be recognized in some way. Full support from me, having a menorah to light alongside the advent calendar would be awesome.

@Zambs,
The Advent calendar is a Christmas thing, it's typically used to count down the days to Christmas. And this event is very obviously a Christmas event considering the fact gifts/poops are sent up until December 25th. While a lot of the event isn't religious, that core aspect is still based on the holiday. There's also a reference to Krampus in an explore encounter which is, again, an Christmas thing.
