It was just before dawn in Gray City - the City to the feral cats who lived there. The sky was dark, and full of clouds that hid the rising sun. The fighting humans had been active all night long, and the sounds of gunfire and explosions still rang out through the City's streets. The cries of dying soldiers and civilians caught in the crossfire were like a chorus of the damned, but the City's inhabitants were used to it by now. Largely unnoticed by the humans, the feral cats - Shattered Claws, New Order, and outliers - were awakening. Already, some were planning their routines; others simply hoped that this dawn would not be their last. Some jumped at the sounds of guns and shattering glass, while other cats just sighed and tucked their heads tighter under their paws. As the sun rose higher, a pause seemed to come over the humans. More food? Maybe... She just wanted this day to go smoothly but of course with her luck it wouldn't. Her ear twitched as she listened for anything really. She looked around her ears twitching as she did so. She did see Ghost getting ready to head out of camp. Well she can go if she wants....she thought. At least Ghost knows what she needs to do today. Artemis still had no idea what to do. In all honesty Artemis would much rather sleep through most of the morning because the morning was usually slow because she would normally always be the first one awake. Artemis jumped at the aound of a gun. Yes she already knew what she was going to do today. She wasn't going to head out of camp quite yet she wanted to wait until others were awake. She sat watching and waiting occasionally turing her head to look out into the entrance of camp. Was something going to happen? She didn't know but she sure wished she did. Another glorious morning in the New Order camp. She hadnt moved from her spot. She lifted her hwad from her paws quite lazily. She walked out of her den looking around what should she do today? She looked for anyone else who might be awake. She sighed not seeing anyone. Maybe Bast was awake? No probably not and it wouldn't be a good idea to wake him. She could talk to him later. He would probably be grumpy if she woke him up. She sat waiting and more waiting for anyone to wake up. She listened for any sounds from those troublesome humans but didn't hear anything. Spitfire | female (she/her) | New Order | Warrior | Location: New Order camp | Mentions: Ash Spitfire rolled over with a large yawn as she awoke, stretching out her paws so far that her shiny white claws peeked out and glistened in the early morning sun that came through a gap in the canvas that hung above her sleeping spot. Her stretch was interrupted by a grunt from another cat, one which she had rolled into in her awakening and was shoving her back towards her sleeping spot. She let out a quick hiss at them as she went to stand up, definitely not deliberately taking her time with getting out of their way, before she shook herself down and trotted out towards the main area where cats usually gathered. Her first sight was that of a dark grey, small looking cat sat looking as if they were waiting for something or someone. Spitfire tilted her head slightly, squinting her remaining eye to try and get a better look at the cat and decide if they were someone she knew. From their size, she could assume they were probably a scout, who she usually didn't hang around with unless she spoke to them in passing. Scanning around the rest of the camp and not seeing anyone else of interest, the small calico shrugged and began to pad towards the figure, approaching them from behind. "Waitin' for someone?" Her lack of self confidence was very strong she always compared herself to others. She perked her ears when she smiled to give that "happy" look she sometimes forced. But she did think of her question was she waiting for someone? Bast maybe? She hadnt really talked to Bast a lot but she did consider him a friend. She took a deep breath of the nice morning air. Hades | Male | New Order | Guard | location: camp | mentions: Spitfire, Ash Hades' large frame was on top of a large piece of rubble with a withered and beaten looking tree hanging above him. The haziness of the morning made him want to laze about all day. Small, crumpled squares of canvas made a small nest below him. He stayed in his little ball, the clumps of fabric kept him comfortable. At least compared to the cold, rough concrete under him and the cloth. His thick coat fluffed up in the slight breeze. It made him shiver slightly and he opened his eyes, peeking his head over the broken pieces of rock and building he lounged on. Staying like that for a while, he watched the morning take hold of the world, brightening it up as much as it could through the cloud cover. After a while, he saw two cats out in the clearing that he recognized from his group, the New Order. Yawning and making a low purr, he stood up, stretching out his front legs then his back. Hades started to pad over, his large paws making a quiet thump as they hit the floor. He made a low greeting meow and said, “Good morning, Spitfire, Ash.” He sat down next to them, licking a paw and giving his forehead a good swipe to groom himself. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Spitfire | female (she/her) | New Order | Warrior | Location: New Order camp | Mentions: Ash, Hades Spitfire continued to circle around Ash as she listened to what the other cat had to say, her little tail stub flicking side to side occasionally... or as much as it could. Her whiskers twitched slightly at the potentially forced look of happiness the grey cat put on her face, but Spitfire shrugged it off for now. "Fair enough," She mewed nonchalantly, "I suppose I'm one of the first up. Makes a change." Deciding she'd already done enough walking for the morning, Spitfire placed herself down next to the slightly smaller female. She was about to open her mouth again to speak when a deeper sounding voice came from beside them both and she swivelled her head to see Hades wandering up to the two of them. He offered a greeting, through which the calico learnt that he original chosen morning companion was named Ash. "Morning Hades!" She greeted the larger cat (who she knew from learning who all the Guards were, so that she could sneak out of camp) almost a bit too quickly as her attention stayed focused on Ash. "Soooooo... you're called Ash? Not seen you around much, you new? Although actually it would be hard to spot you, you being so small and all." Probably because when she was younger she would get made fun of.She sighed calming herself down at she curled her tail around her paws. It irritated her to high heaven talking about her size she probably looked like she wasn't an adult and she hated that. Probably why she has 0 self confidence and is always comparing herself to others. Hades | Male | New Order | Guard | location: camp | mentions: Spitfire, Ash Slowly blinking, he sighed heavily. Dew drops formed on his whiskers from the humidity and he shook them off. Listening to the small squabble he slowly shook his head. “She is a scout and needs to be fast.” Hades commented, with a small nod to Ash. His tail flicked on the ground, kicking up a small bit of dust. He was used to the ill temper of most of the group, so it wouldn’t phase him to witness a small argument. And one seemed to have the chance of starting right about now. He just prepared himself to step in in case anything got too heated. Hades knew it could cause a bit of a commotion with everyone else around. “Don’t push too much.” He said to Spitfire calmly, digging at the ground with a paw. Spitfire | female (she/her) | New Order | Warrior | Location: New Order camp | Mentions: Ash, Hades The calico smiled gleefully when she saw the other female's ears draw back, but she quickly wiped it off her face when Hades chastised her, commenting on how her size would correlate to faster speed. Not one to be outdone, Spitfire shot a small frown towards the darker tom before lifting her chin upwards. "Well I'm still pretty fast even though I'm bigger!" She puffed out her chest, seemingly glossing over the fact that she was in fact only the tiniest bit taller than the other female. Her ears flicked backwards ever so slightly at Hades' second comment and she opened her eye just to a squint as she aimed a glare towards him. "Not pushin', just having a bit of fun to start the morning." Spitfire stuck her tongue out briefly towards the tom, but her fur seemed to flatten down more than it was before. She knew what could happen if she got too snarky and she knew better than to push her luck... She'd rather keep the one eye she still had. "Aaaaanyways," She almost yawned, rolling her head around on her shoulders to focus her gaze back on Ash, "Guess it's nice to meet you then Ash. She seemed to look between the two occasionally staring at them both. She had stuff to do and yet she was standing her talking to them. Her ears twitched as another fly buzzed her ears. But you also have to remember other cat’s boundaries. You know better.” His voice rumbled in his throat as he spoke. His bright yellow eyes didn’t seem to focus too hard on one particular cat, seeing as they’d shift from one to the other. Hades had a much calmer attitude than much of the other cats here and was often ridiculed for that fact. He wasn’t too surprised though, seeing as their system was based on fear and strength. He didn’t mind it much however. “Don’t think I properly had time to introduce myself. I’m Hades. I tend to keep track of most cats to make sure there’s no trouble, seeing as I already know your name.” The black tom said, giving a gentle smile.
