What if there was a mutation that made the tail a little longer than normal? It wouldn't have any side effects except maybe it would have a worse chance of getting something from patrol/hunt because they could become more "clumsy". There would be some nice interactions!

Entering den:
[Insert Name] looks up at you, with his/her long tail wrapped around his/her own body. He/She smiles softly.

[Insert Name] sees you enter and runs up to you, before clumsily tripping over his/her tail and falls over.

Eating:
[Insert Name] was eating peacefully when his/her tail twitches and the tuft lands on the food. He/She looks at the hairs and huffs before continuing to eat.

[Insert Name] had his/her tail wrapped around her food as he/she ate, to keep it to his/herself.
