If you somehow still have neutral karma after getting to the Arid Desert, why would you find tourists? It would make more sense for them to just, visit the Savannah.
Now, you know how most kings have cool rosette patterns, rare colours, and some kings even have a green mane? Well, even if you don’t, you are guaranteed to have at least one oddly-coloured lioness. Mauve, Rhubarb, Albino... all commonly seen!
Now, your lion lives in a territory tile, chosen by you. If you saw something bright green, blue, pink all mixed together walking around in a desert/Savannah/jungle etc won’t you notice?
You encounter tourists commonly if you have neutral karma, they will be clicking their cameras at you, taking photos of you. Most likely, they are travelling with a well-experienced person who has been with lions most of their lives. You would assume they have met a oddly coloured lion at least once, right?
Now, let’s talk about poachers. Somehow, they always, and I mean always appear in your territory, during March that is. What if, the tourists are taking photos of the lions and bringing them back to other people?
Surely word would spread around quickly, when you see these pink lions with green manes and fangs!
Poachers around the world will hear about these lions, and attempt to kill them, especially primals, piebalds and wild hybrids. But of course they won’t notice your kings territory.
Eventually, when your lioness are hunting, they bring back human legs. What if they killed some tourists, who disturbed them hunting? Why would they not take away an entire human?
Well, if you encounter so many tourists, your territory is bound to be near a human settlement. Further proven by finding human villages in hunting grounds.
So, the lions will only tear off a human’s leg, so that nearby poachers and villagers will know “Hey, don’t mess with this lion pride.”
But, this only makes the villagers want to kill lions more, thus seeing more poachers attempting to kill your lions.
The surviving tourist, will most likely return to their home country and tell the tale of the multi-coloured rainbow lions. Your lions hunt at least one human a day, if you’re a frequent hunter. Much more than the average 250 humans per year. Now, let’s count all the lioden players.
I will assume every huntress in lioden combined hunts 500+ human per day. This will lead to extermination programs, attempting to rescue or kill these rare, but dangerous predators.
The reason why tourists are everywhere, is to take a picture of these rare lions, or maybe even get a small piece of fur from them. If these lions are so dangerous, any piece of fur, picture even pictures of your territory could sell for thousands of dollars!

So thanks for reading this long and messy theory.

this would make sense. something similar works for wolvden (ie that the wolves are never disturbed and their unusual coloring is never figured out because they live in the depths of national parks across the globe and the same magic that lets them go to the dreamlands lets them interact with each other so easily)
