Sorry if this is the wrong place to be posting, but I couldn't figure out where I should place this thread.

Ok, the short of it, I'd like to hopefully, sometime in the near future, do commissions.

I've NEVER sold digital art before, so I'm in need of all of the know-hows!

lioden-art.png

Q 1. Would my art style above, be of interest to people?
I of course, would colour them to the customers preference, but is there a market for lethals and king art? and are we *allowed* to sell them, since they are based off of already existing art, but completely hand-drawn from scratch and have varying poses to the originals?

Q 2. What are adoptables and how do they work?

Q 3. Are you allowed to sell designs on here for real money, or just in-game currency/items?

Q 4. If you sell something, I assume you have to send a saved file to the customer, how would I do this, and what is the recommended sizes for lioden commissions?? Or better yet, the different size templates for Icons... for dens.. etc. I pretty much know nothing about this so I'd appreciate a n y input

Q 5. How do you determine what is HQ art or not ?

Q 6. I never trace, but use multiple references. I might take a leg for inspiration from one lion, a direction from another, light source from a different reference... I piece things together to make something new. Is this common? and allowed?

Q 7. How to determine a price for your art?

Q 8. Are you allowed to sell the same line art multiple times, but recolour them to suit each customers wishes? For example, multiple players might be interested in a version of their lethal lion. So I have the lineart for it already, but can colour it to match each of their individual lions looks?

If I have any more questions I'll post them under an edit but at the moment these are the main ones I can think of.

Q1: I think your style would be of interest!
There is a market for drawing lethal and king art, although lethal art is sparse in my opinion? I've never done a lethal commission but have done plenty of kings and a hybrid or two. I don't get the second question in this statement. Are you saying selling a piece of artwork (that's not a commission) of someone else's lion??

Q2: Adoptables are essentially designs you make and sell.

Q3: Yes you are allowed to sell for real money, but that market is very slim. So far a lot of people have more interest in in-game currency/items.

Q4: For selling art, I usually upload it on imgur.com and give the link to the commissioner.
Icons are 150 x 150, anything else is usually what you're most comfortable with as there is html that can be used to shrink it down to fit on dens and other pages.

Q5: From my point of view, HQ art is something that isn't traced and/or has heavily shaky lines. Most HQ art I've seen outside of Lioden appeals to certain trends, whether it's cute and plush or realistic, and so on and so forth.

Q6: I'm sure every artist uses a reference or two when needed. So I think this is fine?? As long as it's not HEAVILY referenced where you could put the copy onto the original and see no difference.

Q7: I'm struggling a bit on this point as well, but. Price your art whatever you think it's worth. I tend to lower my prices because of a lack of commissioners. In my opinion, if you start getting commissions at a certain price, depending on how often you get them you could stay there or raise them (when people start pouring in)

Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of that and respond, its all very helpful and much appreciated.

Sorry for any confusion too - I'm not great at explaining things.

In relation to question 1 - I meant is it okay to do lethal art, since it is based on inspiration from already existing art by another artist. Is it okay to recreate that as I have done above, and then sell it? I realize this was probably a stupid question but I'm super wary of permissions when making/selling things... and the last thing I'd ever want is to be in trouble with lioden. But I believe this has answered itself with your responses anyhow

Thank you so much

I think it should be fine, it's not a direct copy, but I'm not too sure

You're very welcome

Xylax has a handy guide here: https://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=304429245582 as to what is considered tracing, eyeballing, or heavy referencing etc.
