Having been a beetle collector for some time now, the recently added feature, the beetle book, is definitely a must-have for people like me. However, something about the way in which the system works is bugging me.

I'll get right to it: it is not possible to put dead beetles into the catalogue. Therefore, us collectors can't put our already existing collection into the book. Furthermore, putting living beetles into the beetle book, though it kills them, does not give you the dead, dried beetles to go into your hoard. Not only does this mean that the beetle can't be showcased, but it also creates two separate collections: one in the hoard, and one in the catalogue.

In conclusion, a collector currently has two options: to either start over their collection in the beetle book, or to completely ignore this new feature, and resume their collection in their hoard/showcase, which would be a shame because the idea of a catalogue is really nifty!

I believe that this could all be avoided by allowing players to put already dead beetles into their catalogues. I do realise that this would make it a lot easier for people to fill their books, but that could also just be a healthy aspect of the beetle trading economy. Think about it: the only beetles currently being sold are used as crafting materials for decor and applicators! Wouldn't it be favourable to the market if people were able to sell rare beetles to collectors at a high price? Especially for newbies this would be a chance to earn some serious cash.

I know that this is a very minor frustration, but I feel like it should be recognised non the less.

What do you people think? I'd like to hear your thoughts, so please leave a comment below ^^

I love that idea! My dead beetle collection is huge, and seeing it go to waste and having to start over with collecting is really annoying

I agree!! I have a lot of really cool dried beetles and it sucks that it shows I never collected them in the book, even though I did :(

I didn't realize I couldn't use dead beetles in my catalogue and didn't have to wait until they died to put them in the book, and wasted time and SB by feeding & housing them to age 31. The current system seems excessively complicated & pointless to me. The book is badly designed, with no labels and no dropdown - you have to mouse around (not good UI for mobile devices) and guess what you might be looking at. I would strongly support dead beetle collection, as it would help streamline a system that's already like feeling around in the dark for grubs.

I super support this idea! we should be able to input our dead beetles into the collection; it makes no sense to not have that integrated by now!

Massive support, it would give people reasons to buy and trade the dried beetles and it makes sense from the item descriptions anyways, which call them collectible!

There are also 400+ beetle colors at the moment, and there will only be more with time. It makes more sense for us to be able to trade among players than for everyone to have try and raise one of every single beetle species and color.
