Making Sub Males More Useful
Make Grandpaws How They Were Meant to Be
-------

Summary:

March as a month focuses on endangered wildlife, poaching and the tragic loss of countless species from our beautiful planet. Every year, countless animals go extinct, never to be seen again. But it also focuses on conservation efforts around the globe.

In an effort to counteract the rapidly worsening effects of over-hunting, poaching, forest clearing, polution, changing climate and natural disasters, the Frozen Ark Project was created.

https://www.science.org.au/curious/earth-environment/frozen-ark-project

"The Frozen Ark is a conservation project which collects and preserves the tissues, cells and DNA of the world’s most endangered animals. There are a number of other collections of biological material - dubbed ‘frozen zoos’ - across the globe. While resurrecting already-extinct animals such as the thylacine poses enormous technical challenges, properly stored cells and DNA could, in theory, be used to bring back species should they go extinct in the future."

What if we could both bring awareness to this potentially critical method of preserving our dying world's species, and also do something many of us have lamented upon?

Saving past lineages.

What I Am Proposing:

[+] A big ticket item for March Shops with a one time-use: Genetic Storage / Gene Bank

Bases currently are the biggest items of March, with the newest always costing 150 RB, and older bases costing RB. March is a 'low drop currency' month, meaning these prices are scaled to the lowered currency.

➤ I am proposing such an item be hard to obtain, rare, and highly coveted, costing 400 RB per Gene Bank.
➤ Additionally, players can only purchase one Gene Bank per account at a time, with a special 'buy' slot at the very bottom or very top of the March Shop.

Why only one!?
This is both to preserve the value of the lions and items, and ensure that the market is not flooded. Our lion economy is already bad. I don't want it to get worse for players looking to revive lost genetics.

This suggestion was created in response to both overhearing player conversations, and in response to a thread detailing the crisis that breed-only is currently facing on Lioden, where marks are going extinct: https://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=304429484350

NOTICE: Players will NOT be able to use this to stud to submales and I am not including this in the suggestion.

Usage:
Having a Gene Bank in your hoard when visiting the dynasty page of a deceased king or lion will provide you a duplicate of the studding / reverse studding page.

Additional breeding items may be used from this menu - including both male and female items.

Dynasty Male:

This page will require the following items:
➤ Gene Bank
➤ Stud Fee

It will display a dropdown of the player's females currently in-heat. If you own the deceased king, you will not have to supply a stud fee. Upon clicking accept, your female will become pregnant on the first try - similar to Maneater Studs. The Gene Bank item will be consumed.

Similar to having bred from a living king, the genetics will roll, lionesses will need to be nested, and players will be able to utilize an IBF if desired.

Dynasty Female:

This page will require the following items:
➤ Gene Bank
➤ Reverse Breeding Fee
➤ Nesting Material
➤ Instant Cub Delivery

The player's king will be displayed. If you own the deceased female, you will not have to supply a reverse breeding fee. Upon clicking accept, the player will receive the cubs, aged up to weaned. They will be placed in the players' unsorted cave.

Given the expensive, seasonal nature of this item, I believe cubs should have a couple layers of protection automatically implemented.

Cubs should be given a unique name to ensure protection priority. I recommend "New Cub [ARK]". I also believe cubs should be secured automatically upon being received.

Thanks for reading.

NOTICE: Players will NOT be able to use this to stud to submales and I am not including this in the suggestion.

If you don't support, I'd like to know why. I appreciate constructive criticism over a simple "no".

When you say restored with marks only, what do you mean? Mostly in regards to the base and eyes and such.

Updated to say:
[+] Ressurected kings are restored with appearances only.

This is now the same terminology used when kinging heirs. Sorry about the confusion!

Okay! I had assumed that's what you meant but wanted to make sure

I like that it seems balanced with the stats being low in exchange. Would it be possible to mut/stat/heritage rep them like a regular king, or would they just be brought back for one last hurrah? Also, what age do they go to? (I think 8 would be good, since that's the age that heirs get aged down to if they're old when kinged)

For the record I support lol, just want more details cause I like the idea!

Terrinthia [G1 Daedal] (#97101) :: No worries, happy to answer.

Once ressurected, your restored king can be mutie replaced and heritage replaced like usual. I like the idea of them being restored to 8 years old.

If players wish to replace again to get a new lineage or mutation on them, they'd be required to pay the replacement fee like usual.

I'll add these to the main suggestion.

Maybe this is a more stupid suggestion but since cloned animals generally have shorter lifespans (I know he’s not a clone but it’s in a similar vein), maybe he lives shorter than the average king ? Maybe only to 13 or 14 and dies at 15

🏳️‍🌈 man (#101607) :: That idea can be implied by making him 8 years old when kinged haha. I wouldn't want to make a whole new aging system for them.

Support.

I’ve had a lot of kings over the years but there are few special ones I’d consider bringing back if it was possible

I'd preffer honestly if it didn't bring back a previous kings as a new king, but instead used *all * their genetics for a single breeding, much like frozen then thawed up sperm. Not sure if it would be aviable for being studded off, if that would be for the better or the worse. That was atleast what I assumed trhe title suggested, but I wouldn't be neccesearly against this feature either.

I think bringing back a king would be a bit too broken, but I think Datrandomcat's idea is great! Supported

Datrandomcat [5 days till rep] (#166891) -- I wouldn't be against this either! I'll include it in the original suggestion at some point as an either/or.

Rainbow Chips (#194135) -- Thank you also for the feedback!

This idea has been re-worked into two potential ideas for the Gene Bank. Thanks to Datrandomcat (#166891) for suppling the additonal feedback idea!

This idea has received an overhaul following player feedback, and expanded to allow breeding to dynasty kings and females. The following was scrapped:

Idea #2
Usage:
Upon retiring your king, having a Gene Bank in your hoard will provide players an additional option:

➤ Ressurect a Previous King

When players select this option, they will be presented with a list of their kings akin to the lists in trading center which allow you to click each name to see which lion it is.

[+] Ressurected kings are restored with appearances only.
[+] Ressurected kings all have 30 stats.
[+] Ressurected kings are aged to 8 years old.
[+] Ressurected kings do not keep the mutation present on that king.
[+] Ressurected kings can be mutie replaced and heritage replaced as with normal kinging.
[+] Ressurected kings have a special lineage, which reads both parents as 'Gene Bank Donor M' and 'Gene Bank Donor F' - or perhaps randomizes between names of famous animals through history, such as Koko (the Gorilla) or Alex (the African Grey Parrot).
[+] If players wish to replace again to get a new lineage or mutation on them, they'd be required to pay the replacement fee as with normal retirement.

Ressurected kings allow a player to revive an old king to continue to use normally, even if the cost is much steeper than kinging a new heir.
