Calypso

Calypso came to the family recently; emaciated, stumbling on bloody paws, she had staggered into camp at sundown, freshly mauled by a pack of murderous hyenas. Kind-hearted Kitona immediately took the wounded lioness in, licking her bloody fur and ordering meat to be brought, which Calypso devoured hungrily. Iago had been out all night patrolling, but when he returned, the sight of Calypso sleeping with her muzzle on Kitona's back and the rest of the pride stretched out around them, he simply couldn't drive the newcomer off. And so Calypso became part of the pride; displaying the heavier build and the striped pelt of a jungle cat, she was the exotic object of the pride for some time, who often asked her of her homeland. She readily supplied answers and stories, and soon became a favorite among cubs and lionesses alike.
