Flaris takes a step back as you approach. After some coaxing from you she carefully comes close enough for you to nuzzle her.
You were fast asleep when suddenly you heard Flaris roaring! You arrived just in time to chase off an invading lion. You're glad she was paying attention!
Seeing you, Flaris pins her ears down, watching you carefully, but she gets up to greet you when you smile at her.
Flaris was the fourth lion that Flux accepted into the Pride, but she was the third to stay. Sonas left soon after joining the Pride and Flaris almost went with her, for fear of being vulnerable in such a small group, but after some persuasion she stayed and grew more comfortable as the Pride expanded. Towards the end of Flux's reign she was constantly on guard, worried that she might somehow bring Flux's wrath upon her. After Pitch's takeover she was slow to trust him, but over time she has learned to trust in him and the other members of the Pride. She had always been nervous and jumpy, but over the years she grew more relaxed and although she was still more paranoid than most of the other members of the Pride, she was much better than she used to be. She refused to explain how she got to be so paranoid all the time, but Ardione and Eclipse noticed that sometimes she growled about dogs in her sleep. They weren't ones to share others' secrets, however, and didn't tell anyone else in the Pride.
Just over a year after the Aphrodisia Time began, Flaris came down with a cough and no matter how many remedies the Pride tried, it would not go away. During the next month she grew weaker and weaker and the cough became stronger, up to the point that she refused to eat. She told the other lionesses that her time had come, and she was right - the next morning the Pride awoke to find her cold and still in her nest. The Pride was shaken. Flaris was the first lion they had lost to old age, and the young Zibu was especially distraught. They spent that day reminiscing about the lioness. She had been in the Pride since the very beginning, and she had lived through three Kings in her lifetime. As the sun set they buried her. They didn't think she would appreciate being buried near Flux, so they laid her to rest near Pitch's resting place. Zibu spent the night near her grave, and in the morning the Pride moved on, leaving Flaris to rest on the banks of that peaceful river.
