IMPORTANT: This traveler is a part of the Traveler's Guide to Lioden clan. If she ends up going missing, deleted/chased, killed, or Nature reserved, and gone into Main Chat, the person found responsible will be blacklisted from having any of my future travelers.




Nyoka is a shamaness who is wanting to go to other prides for training as a shamaness, however she also wants some advice, since she noticed snakes are often attracted to her and tend to coil around her legs or curl up in her fur, or even follow her around. Unknown to her she has the power to shift her form as well, showing a few serpentine features when she's deep into a ritual. As she is fairly evasive, some lions don't immediately notice changes at first.

Decor Preference: I would prefer some more snake décor and the snake morph décor, but you may add anything related to shamans as well!

Length of stay per pride: at least 4 days. Will be longer if she's pregnant/nursing cubs.



I also would love it if you can post stories of Nyoka's lessons or the progression of her knowledge to the snake problem, although you may put ANYTHING that happened during her visit! Also please put the date she arrived and the day she left, it helps me keep track of how long she stayed in each pride!

Nyoka felt anxious as she gathered her travel bag, made of rawhide and adorned with vulture feathers. She glanced at Untundu, her mother, as the older lioness nodded and nudged her daughter with a small grin. With a sheepish smile, and reassurance, Nyoka padded off with the bag nestled on her shoulder, sometimes noticing a few snakes following her from the corner of her eye.




The Oasis Pride ((#212969))

Nyoka's time in the Oasis pride was calm, save for when a python got near a few cubs playing near the trees.
Even though she was invited, she refused to warm up in the warm springs when the weather grew a bit too cold in the oasis.

RavenFF #187871- Mammon's pride
Nyoka perform a blessing ritual for Mammon's pride for they have no shaman, Mammon wanted to make sure that their huntress could still bring back enough food during this harsh winter. Nyoka noticed that she grew a serpent tongue, how did that happened? "I musssssst not let anyone ssssee me like thissssst!" Nyoka only nodded or shook her head when other lions interacted with her, fear that once she opened her mouth to speak they would discover her weird tongue.

Auris#229394 - Dial's pride
Dial's pride members were glad to finally get a non-deadly traveler. Nyoka was welcomed into the pride and was glad that the lions weren't bothered by the fact she refused to speak because of her snake tongue. Dial's pride didn't have a shaman yet, so she helped them out. She spent time with Lag, the record keeper of the pride, and learned of the pride's history.

Aslan's pride took Nyoka in with open arms. During her stay she had learned the pride believed in the war within yourself between two beings, the good and the evil, and the one that would win would be the one you feed the most. She was glad that it didn't bother the others that she refused to speak like within the last pride, although one night one of the cubs couldn't sleep and went for a walk overhearing her singing her cubs a lullaby. "Hussssssssh a by don't you cry.. go to sssssssleeep my pretty babiesssssss." The cub from the pride entered her cave quietly not minding that she had a snake tongue and enjoyed the lullabies. Nyoka felt her presence but let her be and continued to sing. That morning she asked the cub to keep the secret of her tongue between them and the cub nodded. "Of course, but I don't understand why you want to keep it a secret, I think it's really cool and I know most here would think the same." The cub rubbed against Nyokas leg before running off to play with it's friends. Nyoka visited with the shamanness Angakok. Angakok had once heard of the same problem Nyoka seemed to have and brought out a dusty old scroll and opened it before Nyoka helping her read it. After she finished she looked to Nyoka and simplified it, "My dear you have nothing to worry about, you simply are a shamanees with the great power from the spirit place Duat also known as the realm of the dead. Do not fear if you start to see the dead your goal is help guide them the souls to the place where they will face their various ordeals. Many egyptians viewed the place as a snake as often you could find snakes around it because of the warmth and snakes could easily talk with the spirits." After hearing this Nyoka was a little unnerved, 'why me? why was I chosen for this... I...I don't think I want this...' She kept saying to herself as she left the shamannesses den. A couple days later she decided she would visit another pride to get a second opinion. 'Perhaps this shamaness was mistaken.' She thought as she said her goodbyes, gathered up her cubs, and set off on her journey once more.

Raethan enjoyed Nyoka's stay. It wasn't long, but it was pleasant. The shamaness learned of the Pride's customs, where any of the hunters would wear a item that came from their first kill, presented as a trophy and honorary token from being apart of the pride. When Nyoka arrived, her small cub, Slither, quickly grew from a potion the wise Seer presented to her. Slither, finding an attachment to the pride, decided to stay. Though, the little Shaman decided to continue on in her mother's footsteps, blessed with the same snake mannerisms as her mom.

Nyoka and her slithering companions were welcomed into the pride without much complaint; Liutas had certainly seen stranger travelers visiting recently, from hyenas and wolves to wandering spirits. Still, it took some time getting used to having so many snakes around; they could probably take up an entire den just by themselves!
Whenever Nyoka practiced her shaman rituals, she unconsciously attracted even more snakes who followed alongside her when she finally move on to the next pride.

Seguidor's Pride (Luminnyx #221708)

The lioness was welcomed into the pride without hesitation considering Seguidor was a shaman himself. Most lions kept their distance considering the amount of snakes surrounding the traveler. Soon, Seguidor showed her how to control a small portion of wind around her. After that, it was time for her to move on.

Mammon had to be careful not to step on any of Nyoka's slithering companions when he is around the traveler. Nevertheless, he was glad to see Nyoka grew out of her shell and was not as evasive as the first time she visited his pride.
February event snippet: Nyoka was flirted by a rude lion and Mammon smacked the shit out of him, sending him packing.

Nyoka found herself in Starbound's pride after a while of travels, snakes still trailing after her with everystep. Starbound welcomed her warmly finding the sheer amount of snakes following the lioness interesting. While they did not have a Shaman the Storyteller of the pride, Firecry, was happy to share some stories with her and tell her about their own tradtions. Nyoka barely spoke, still nervous about her snake tongue, but spent a little time hanging out and hunting with the other lioness. One night after she was done mediating she realized that something had changed, she now had what appeared to be serpents fangs poking out of her mouth! Unsure how to hide this she quickly left the pride before they could see hoping they wouldn't think she was rude.

Nyoka has arrived on other pride territory, that was really huge waterfall den with a lot of plants and birds. The first lion she met were young shamaness — Starlight. Really huge primal lioness were confused with guest's snake fangs and invited Nyoka to her cave.
After small conversation Starlight promised to help Nyoka with her journey. The pride leader has agreed to let snake shamaness stay for a few days. She spent all her time with new friend, but also found something new — the water rituals, the most important traditions of waterfall pride. She still didn't realize what to do with her new form, but she just accepted it like if she were always half-snake. Pride members showed her the way to new lands and she gone with one promise — promise to meet Starlight once again.

Eruption greets Nyoka with kindness, though the crowd of snakes behind her and her snake like appearance makes him quite nervous. He lets her stay for a short while before quickly ushering her on way.

The pride were happy to welcome another familiar face for a brief visit. And although the shamaness' snake-like appearance was slightly unnerving, the lionesses allowed her to stay for as long as she needed to.
During her stay, it seemed as though the king didn't have to worry too much about lions trying to flirt with Nyoka - her snakes would protectively hiss and strike if anyone made advances towards her.

Interactions : You went up to Nyoka to ask how hunting practice went today. She instead told you all about a cool bird she saw on the way. You guess she doesn't really want to talk about it. Ah well.

By the time Nyoka came upon Sir Hyacinth's pride, there was no hiding the swarm of snakes slithering across her body and the long fangs poking from her lips. As she had given up hiding her forked tongue, Nyoka had grown a habit of flicking it out periodically without even realizing. It gave her a new sense of the world, an awakened sense of smell that made her more aware of her immediate surroundings. Her abilities were fully showing themselves, but she was yet to have any real control over them. Yet, slowly, she was learning to stop fighting them.
The pride was curious about Nyoka, not only for her bizarre appearance, but for the fact that they had no shaman and had not had any interaction with one. She performed a blessing for the pride, and a few lionesses sat with her in the evenings as she shared knowledge of her culture and practices. Although some of these lions avoided her, most were welcoming and kind. The pride had birthed two primal cubs some months before her arrival--the two boys were excited by her fangs and considered them to be beautiful, as they had been raised to see their own teeth as such. For the first time since Nyoka's snake problem had arisen, she felt relaxed and at peace with herself. Some lions even groomed her fur, even as the serpents moved across their paws. How long had it been since someone had groomed her? The snakes, too, seemed to grow calm as Nyoka did, somehow in tune with her emotions...
