Biography
cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus)

Habitat: Cheetahs are primarily found in sub-Saharan Africa, with a small population also inhabiting parts of Iran. They prefer open grasslands, savannas, and scrubland environments where they have space to run and hunt. Cheetahs rely on vegetation and land cover to approach their prey stealthily.

Food Source: Cheetahs are carnivorous predators, primarily feeding on medium-sized ungulates such as gazelles and impalas. They are specialized hunters and rely on their incredible speed and agility to chase down their prey. Cheetahs are the fastest land animals, capable of reaching speeds up to 70 miles per hour (112 kilometers per hour) in short bursts, allowing them to catch their prey through an impressive combination of acceleration, agility, and maneuverability. They have keen eyesight to spot potential targets from a distance. Once a cheetah catches its prey, it suffocates it by biting its throat.

Fun fact: in zoos they will often get an emotional support dog to help them remain calm.
