Upon their first meeting, Jua could practically smell the insecurity that Kuwinda tried so desperately to hide. She didn't know what caused it, not for a long time, but she had the nagging need to crack his façade. Her snarky quips and light-hearted but pointed jabs were starting to infuriate the arrogant lion, though he would never admit to it. Even when Jua finally discovered the reason Kuwinda donned his mask, he never let the act slip - not in public, anyway. It was only on quiet nights, when the rest of the pride was safely sequestered in the cave, that the pair would lay under the stars and speak in hushed, authentic tones. Without ever realizing it was happening, Kuwinda had chosen his Queen.

But her king was gone too soon, leaving their snowy son to lead the pride, with Jua as queen dowager overseeing his efforts. She had faith that Yaro Winda would protect the other lionesses, but wondered if he would ever replace her with a queen of his own...
