You pause, allowing yourself to take in the scene — vines hang from the stone walls, intertwined with one another. various antelope skulls decorate the sandstone ground, and bright blue pools are home to unique fish you can’t recall seeing before. A small, lanky monkey with a bright blue face appears from one of the smaller den entrances. shortly after, a lioness follows in pursuit, meeting your eyes as she walks past, a maw full of herbs. once she reaches one of the sparkling pools, she sets down her bundle of herbs and motions the monkey over with a glance. as her companion begins separating and cleansing each herb, she turns and saunters back to you. You take the opportunity to detail the lioness’ unique appearance and interesting ornamental choices as she speaks. You wonder whose poacher’s bag she had stolen, and what concoctions she held in her glass vials. “Greetings, traveler, my name is Amāra. And you?” You introduce yourself and the pride you lead.
