Kanu means ‘wildcat’, he is named after his mother, Kona. Kanu is Kona’s second cub in her fourth and final litter, her seventh child overall. Kanu is not Rego’s named heir, but it’s clear from his birth that Rego views him as such. From the moment Kanu can walk, Rego takes him everywhere, teaching him about the kingdom and its laws, and spending hours a day playing with his son and telling him stories. Father and son have an unbreakable bond, but it quickly becomes evident that Kanu will not be able to complete his training before Rego’s retirement, he is simply too young. Thus, Feline, Rego’s niece, will inherit the throne, alongside her mate Falling Spark.
