{Backstory}

Niya was bought from her former pride, who were giving her up due to her frail body and lack of bright colors. Caelinus, Prince of Astrology saw great potential in the young lioness, his lioness fawning over the purple and pink hues of her pelt. Niya was aggressive at first, spitting harsh words to the old king, claiming that he was nothing and could barely lead his pride. Caelinus, despite the rage that built in his belly remained calm, allowing Niya to direct her rage towards him.

"You are young, naive and hopeful. You believe that your mother and father will crawl back here, begging for your forgiveness. You are wrong. You give power to lions who couldn't give a vultures shit about you. You think I am speaking without knowledge? My father, King Astrophel was like you, bought by his father now, my grandfather. They shared no blood, but he loved him just as much as his blood children, as I do you."

"Love me? You don't even know me!" She would spit, paw coming up with claws outstretched, catching the old king by his chin. Caelinus did not flinch, he just smiled softly and reached a paw out. Flinching, she would cower with eyes shut tight, expecting a blow from the large brute for her outrage. Instead, a massive paw came to rest on the adolescent's head.

"You're right. I don't know you. But my love for you is no less than the love I have for my many sons and daughters. from today on you will go on territory patrols with my sons and train with my daughters. You will learn the ways of your pride, become one with the savannah and animals in my land." Niya was silent, bitterness still heavy in her heart but she would obey, this was her home now, even if she did hate it at first.
