Name means "grave" in Swahili Kaburi was chosen to be Hifadhi's successor, marry Hifadhi and Kiguzo's daughter Zawadi, and to rule with Zawadi after Hifadhi's passing. Zawadhi is Kaburi's "favorite" wife and asks for her opinion whenever possible. He provides for her and will protect her at any cost. No lion is to mate with her except him. Zawadi adores her mate. She believes he is wise and strong. Everything he does is for the good of the pride. Kaburi hides his evil side well from her. He is a cold, calculating lion and craves power. Kaburi doesn't want to unite his pride with anyone's. He wants the lands Hifadhi left him and more if he can obtain it. His secret adviser and spy is Mfupa, an Egyptian vulture. Mfupa tells Kaburi everything he sees and hears in exchange for having first picks of the leftovers from the pride's meals. When Queen Vizuri offered to secretly mate with him in order to produce a male heir and overthrow T'Challa, Kaburi couldn't say no.
