Mambele grew up in a large, loving pride, all his needs were met with him being the child of Lord Damu, Leader Bheka, and Lady Dutshani. He practically had everything he could want. He would gather with the other cubs his age and listen to stories of a "White Devil" who supposedly haunted his family, that his father, Lord Damu, had been spending every waking moment of his life hunting down the demon ever since his own father had died.
Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, life seemingly was perfect for Mambele as he was to become the next leader of his father's pride, however, Mambele awoke one day to see small flecks of white on his paws, he didn't think much of it until the flecks grew to spots, then splotches, up until his entire bottom half of his body was consumed by snow white fur. Struck with fear, he wandered through the territory to reach The Anomalies den, desperate for an answer or solution. But he saw nothing but worry on the mutated lion's faces, they didn't know if the white fur would cease to spread all over his body. The lions converse for a moment, before turning to the young heir and presenting him with two options: Stay and take a chance, or run from the pride. And with a heavy heart, Mambele, with the help of The Anomalies, fled the pride, never to be seen again.
It is unknown what had happened to him during his journey into adulthood, but after finally solidifying the fact that his white fur wouldn't spread anymore, the heir had returned to his pride in shambles and to his old, dying father. The lions were shocked, confused, happy, but it soured quickly, as they began accusing him of deserting his family, they flung all sorts of harsh words at him. Coward, filth, pest, trash. He looked to his three parents, expecting them to be blindly happy, but they too felt complicated about his return, even if they were incredibly joyful of his return. The Anomalies were not present during this, but they very well heard the roars of arguments find their way to their cave. Lord Damu mustered up an old, raspy roar to quiet everybody down to let Leader Bheka speak, the ferus told the pride that Lord Damu had never chosen another heir after Mambele's disappearance and since he had never died, he technically kept the rank of heir, making him their new king. Roars of defiance shook the trees, but Leader Bheka rang out a piercing, fierce roar that shut them up. Lord Damu spoke up finally, declaring his child the new king, Captain Mambele.
After that, the pride hesitantly welcomed their new king, but Captain Mambele knew the truth of what his pride sees in him, "I know what my pride thinks of me, I know I am a coward, I know that I am hated by most of them for abandoning my pride. They don't need me, but I need them.". He is Captain Mambele, the Maneater. The Coward.
