Ao is a son of sunlight; large and muscular, he has a coat the color of dull gold, which contrasts nicely with his full, spiked obsidian mane. He encountered the Venatiio pridelands on his way through the desert, where he was promptly stopped by Rex Iago Ater and Deus Ex Machina. Hackles coiled, teeth bared and eyes gleaming, they were ready to thrash him into submission, but Ao simply smiled in his sunny way, his long fangs lending his muzzle a dangerous and somehow cheerful air, and the two older males regarded him curiously. They offered him the hospitality of their meager home and took Ao to meet the lionesses, who promptly fell in love with him. Iago retired peaceably several months ago to play with the cubs and spend the rest of his days lazing in the sun, and Deus, who was feeling the advance of age himself, bowed down to the younger male's ascension to the throne. Now, Ao is king, and a kind, fierce king who is battling hard against the Serpent of Chaos to keep his pridemates alive and happy. May Anubis protect him.
