Maecasa was never an extraordinary lion. Born small, he was coddled by his mother and humoured in youth. Even as an adult he remained with his mother's pride, until her death allowed him to fall out of her protection and chased away. When he managed to start his own pride, he first ruled with a velvet paw - this stirred his pride into disrespect toward their pushover of a king. After a long time of tolerating the nonsense, he snapped - enough was enough. He began to act aggressive and temperamental, and one day, killed one of the lionesses in his pride. He's killed another two since, and now his lionesses regard him with disgust and less respect than ever. They remain in hopes that the only other male in their pride will succeed Maecasa and drag the pride out from under his trembling paw for good.
