This future ruler was named for the way he bought his estranged parents back together after a long and unhappy spell. They had been starting to build bridges again and little 'So-so' as his adoring big sister nicknames him, is the cement which fixes their relationship. His name also signifies hope that the pride will continue to be united when he is ruler - no mean feat as the pride is ever growing.
Shisheeya, the Shaman, seems to have a soft spot for the new prince, although it is hard to tell, as Shish is a bit cryptic sometimes - the cub was the first cub in the pride to receive a blessing from this mystical son from a long line of Healers, and it has blessed him with a large, Primal build and a pretty pastel coat. This endears him to the lionesses of the pride..! Shisheeya smiles and nudges the cub with his nose upon 'seeing' him for the first time. "I blessed him with good fortune. I hope it serves him well."
As he grows, his parents note that he is much larger than his siblings, and Marrana exclaims happily, "why, he is a Primal, like me!" The two instantly get on and Iso likes to keep her company, watching her at her herbalist work. He doesn't say much, and when he does it is worth listening to. He isn't one to show overt emotion but is protective of those he deems close, especially his mother and sisters.
On the eve of his and his sister's crowning, the family sit and exchange duties and anecdotes. Kibirs enthusiasm, usually infectious, fails to reach Isokan as he sits silently and stoically, taking all in but saying little. His mother reaches up and frames his massive head with her paws and arms, affectionately telling him he will do fantastic and not to worry about her and Kaidi, both now very close to retirement.
Although he knows that with his sister by his side, the pride will be under safe paws, he does know that he will miss his parents when they are gone, and states so in his deep and mellow voice. Kaidi and Launuka smile wistfully and reassure him they will be with him and Kibir always. Their beloved cubs, they always will be.
With the dawn of their reign, a lot has changed in the pride. Kibir talks to her brother about who he will take as his queen. He looks surprised, and tells her, "You are the queen, my sister. I won't be taking another."
She blinks. Then realises her brother is more of a horndog than she realises and laughs loudly. She tells him so, and he says nothing, but smiles wickedly. He does not wish to be tied to any one lioness, and there will be more chance of a suitable heir, when the time is right.
Isokan knew his mother wasn't a young lioness when he and Kibir were born, but the news that she had passed one bright morning, before the twins had reached three and a half, was a shock to the family and pride. Isokan can say nothing but stares at the body of his once powerful mother, eyes wide , massive body shaking.
She isn't buried in the traditional royal place, but close by in her favourite rocky cave which she decorated since she was a cub. The family sit and watch as Shisheeya performs a small ceremony, wishing her safe passage and to find peace with her mother. None of the family wish to leave, and the shaman passes on a message for each lion separately before ushering them out to let Launuka rest in peace.
Isokan ponders on the message left by his mother through the Shaman. He looks to the now night sky and lets out a roar, promising that he will never be far from his beloved mother's side.
Isokan adores his new daughter, and although he is a lion of few words, Sabi grows up knowing she is safe and loved. One of her favourite pastimes is accompanying her father on his patrols - he deliberately diverts to places he knows she will like, such as the flowering field overlooking the pride shrublands.
He will spend hours here with her, sitting and watching as she pounces on flowers and darts to and from his resting place with flowers for him and her mother. He smiles at her joy and cares not that his patrol time is taken up with her. It could be much worse, he thinks, carrying her back from her forays, curled up in his ample mane as he trudges back to the pride, and her waiting mother, who he greets with a head bump and a small purr. She is a special lioness.
Upon the birth of her two tailed daughter Jinni isn't quite sure what to make of motherhood. It doesn't soften her and neither do Isokans pleas to move them both into the royal den so he can watch his daughter grow. Even he knows better than to push Jinni too far.
"She will stay with me and train," she growls at him while nursing little Lula. "She is big and strong, with your Primal blood and my huntress heritage she will make a fine huntress!" Isokan says nothing, but still, wishes to be a part of her life as he is with Sabi, and Jinni reluctantly concedes that she will benefit from her father's company. "Don't be soft though," she snarls. "Yahlula must learn well from us both."
He looks back at their den with sadness, and vows that he will do everything in his power to raise his new daughter as well as he can, away from the influence of her mother.
The same happens with their second daughter, and Jinni makes no secret of the fact Eshu is her favourite. Eshu also becomes slightly tainted towards her father... Isokan is more or less forced to be cooler with her, and it saddens him no end.
After the shopkeeps mother passes away, she soon turns her mind to her mother's shop, and her son and heir Diospyros helps her focus on business and focus on new ideas, earning the renewed attention of Isokan.
He worries as Spyros is in no way related to him, meaning he will have to suggest to his daughters, maybe, to start taking an interest in the young Primal and be the future queen and ruler; after all, the ruler must be related to the first king. Spyros knows full well that he will be the guardian of the pride, not the one in charge. The youngster is more than happy with this arrangement, but doesn't want to insult the king by saying he doesn't really fancy any of his daughters.
Ochi roars with laughter at this and says that the king had better start making more daughters for her boy, then! Spyros gives her an embarrassed smile and turns his head away thoughtfully, thinking of mentioning it next time they are together. Of course, Isokan doesn't mind this idea one bit!
He is relieved at the birth of an heir to run the pride when he retires - his little daughter Uvivi is the apple of his eye and Jinni agrees to share the parenting duties with him. He of course has a lot of explaining to do to his other daughters, though..!
"Isokan bounds over to you as you come to visit, wiggling and mrewling for your attention!"
"Isokan claimed victory and wandered off without a word. Another cub whispered in delight at how cool he was. +6% training experience!"
